It's not important who you think you are
Or what you say is your ascending star
The wealth you've gathered along the way
Or the types of people you keep at bay
It's not important the places you've been
Or any of the wondrous sights you've seen
The part of this world in which you dwell
Or any of the stories you could tell
It's not important if you dream by day
Or stay awake by night to keep them at bay
The way you live, the way you dress
Or even the way that you handle stress
It's not important that you be strong
Or hold back emotions if you feel it's wrong
The way you walk, the way you speak
Or even the times that you are weak
It is important that you be true
To yourself and what you would do
The way to grow, the way to learn
Is to strive for the ideals you yearn
It is important that you understand
That I'll be there with a helpful hand
And I will remain your best friend
