Accused

With broken dream and shattered hopes
I 'm braced to face the charge
My back against the ropes
True sanity's still at large

The accuser stands before me
Pointing directly my heart
Saying this man can't go free
For you know what he will start

The jurors all nod in favor
Of the words that cut my soul
That is not good behavior
Crucifixion his just console

My knees start to tremble
My throat is very dry
And as my peers assemble
My heart begins to cry

He's been spreading lies
To all that he does meet
Yet he still denies
That he has spread deceit

Is there any person here
That will speak on his behalf
Is there anybody near
Not afraid to make us laugh

A solitary lady rose
And spoke out loud and clear
Drop the charge I do propose
And rid yourself of fear

This prophet's words are true
Of this you know I'm right
His only sin is love of you
Our redemption his only plight

These few words brought awe
To all that crowded here
And others agreed I saw
As they nodded without fear

With joyous heart I know
My fate is still quite sealed
But love of God does flow
And never again will yield

At this time I knew I'd won
I am guilty of the sin
My kingdom has begun
And loving can begin
