*the 11 year old walks down to the barn, looking for her new pony. she sees a dun head poking out of a stall and smiles. the 14.1 pony nickers, eager to go for a ride as she gathers his tack and brushes. "i can't believe i finally have my own pony" she says out loud to the pony. Who Dunnit looks at her and dances his hind legs around. "stand" she corrects him as she tightens the girth and slips the bit into his mouth, pulling the headstall over his ears. he stands for a moment and she picks up her crop, pulls the reins over his head and leads him to the ring to mount. she checks her helmet strap and mounts, then holds the pony in a halt for a minute, adjusting her stirrups and pushing her heels down. then she nudges him lightly and walks him around. he moves eagerly into a elegant trot as soon as she asks and canters just as wonderfully. then she heads up to the low crossrail. he pops over it lightly, and she takes it a few more times at a canter. he throws in a few bucks but she corrects him in a firm, gentle manner, not shaken at all by his playful antics. after a little while she cools him off and puts him away.
