Cassidy was grooming the big Arabian stallion in cross ties, her mind elsewhere. She was thinking about all the pleasure & gaited classes they had won, showing saddleseat. Then she studied the gorgeous horse infront of her. Arabs weren't gaited, and lately, she had been wanting a truley gaited horse. Jennifer strode up. "Hey," she said. She reached up and scratched the stallion's ears. He nickered. "Mom, Arabians aren't gaited," she began suddenly. "Yes..." "Well, I mean, I show him in saddlesea classes and all, but I donno...I-" she paused, embarrassed to say it b/c she loved Pride so much. "I want a REAL gaited horse." "I understand," Jennifer replied. "Like a Tennesse Walker? A Saddlebred?" "Yeah. But..." Cassidy sighed. "I still love Pride!"
Jenny chewed her bottom lip thoughtfully. "Maybe we don't have to get rid of him. I could lease him out and start training him as a jumper." "Yeah, plus we need to put him up for stud. With all the shows he has won, it won't be a problem attracting mares." "Ok, don't worry," Jennifer smiled at her daughter reasurringly. "I'll do something." She walked off to her office.
Cassidy hugged the big bay. "I love you Pride," she said, running her hands through his silky mane. "But I need a naturally gaited horse. I'm not getting rid of you," she added. Pride stared at her with wide, expressive eyes. Laughing, Cassidy picked up the bridle. "Let's go for a ride!"
They went out for a nice trail ride. Pride racked easily, perferring it to his natural trot. They traveled smoothly over the hills and woods. After the ride, Cassidy cooled him out and turned him loose. She walked into Jennifer's office and talked to her mom about leasing him out.
