Cassidy arrived early at the barn and breezed through her chores. She stopped by to give Pride a kiss & a treat, then jogged eagerly over to Gent's stall. The big black horse was munching his morning feed and to Cassidy's pleasure he gave a short nicker when he saw her. Already she felt they were forming a bond. While he ate his breakfast she groomed him. Then she led him outside and lunged him in the arena. After getting his bucks out and warming up, he followed her willingly to the barn. Cassidy slipped the saddleseat tack on him and grabbed a helmet. Jenny, Brandon, and Melanie walked beside Cassidy to the outdoor arena for her 1st ride.
Brandon gave Cassidy a leg up. The stallion stood calmly as Cassidy settled into the saddle, adjusting the stirrups and gathering the reins. The big Walker shifted beneath her and chewed the bit, but did not move until she touched his sides gently with her heels. Then he seemed to take giant steps! His strides covered the ground effortlessly, muscles rippled, gait smooth as silk! He strode confidentally around the arena, bending to her slightest command and acting like a perfect gentleman. "Ok!" Jenny called. Cassidy collected the reins, shoved her heels down, and asked for the natural rack - what she had been waiting for. Instantly Gent surged into a high, flashy rack. Cassidy gasped as the sensation rippled through her. She had ridden & shown other people's gaited horses, but this was diffrent. Gent pranced lightly around the arena with fast, impressive strides. She felt as if they were floating! After the ride Cassidy dismounted and kissed him on the nose. The sweet stallion arched his neck proudly and danced after her to the washracks.
