I too am descended from Janet Hamilton, and have worked out some family tree stuff which I'm sure the original poster Anne Hilton will be interested in.

I am also trying to research Janet Hamilton the poet.

All the online articles I see about her refer to her being 5th in descent from John Whitelaw “the monk lands martyr” - who I believe I’m descended from.

I am trying to find the family tree down from John Whitelaw to Janet Hamilton but can’t find it anywhere. Has anyone found this link?
