But a cover is not really it is it - songs like anarchy came out of the time that they were made in and you can't recreate the time and you can't recreate the song, even if the Sex Pistols were to sing the song now it wouldn't be the same (you'd have to do some digging first!) because life is different, the audiences are different etc., now you could copy Remember you're a Womble and it wouldn't matter at all.
