ahahahaaah
I liked that story...
*Seems, the new girl at Cackle's Academy*
(yep, I know Seems is far too old to even pretend being a first year - but she could be a new girl in fourth year, transferred from Pentangles, cause she liked CATS far better than owls... (cunning pun, eh?? - well, maybe not...)

Episode 41: Three Seems in the wind

Cackles' Academy during the morning - discipline prevails everywhere...
all the classrooms are crammed with rosycheeked girls, eager to gobble down their lessons...
HB marches up and down the potionlab, peering over the girls' shoulders to make sure they take notes of all the ingredients for the anti-giggling-potion , Miss Bat's class can be heard chanting wildly, Miss Drill leads some unfortunate first years jogging round and round the pool -
Miss Cackle wanders round the school and observes with satisfaction that everything looks perfectly shipshape...
when she suddenly stops in her tracks - was that some faint moaning she heard???

Following the slight sound, she discovers one of the new girls in the fourth year, Seems Seeress, sprawled over her bed, boots on the pillow, looking positively green and groaning into her blanket...

Miss Cackle, being the gentle headmistress as which she is known to all of us, at once decides that the poor girl must be suffering of lack of fresh air. So she makes the shaky Seems get up and dress...
and then calls Miss Drill in and tells her to set off with all the forth years to a healthy five-mile-marathon...involving some gymnastics like treeclimbing and swinging over muddy brooks by means of holding on to a rope -

the following scene has been described in all regrettable details by a trusty eyewitness as given above...
so I shall skip it now...

next we see a bedroom again...
poor wee Seems nursing her horrid hangover...
"there, there, Seems...
let's get Miss Bat to brew her one of her pondslime-medicines that will work wonder with almost every ailment.." - with these fatal words, Miss Cackle leaves the room...
while HB sits next to Seems bedside, sneering: "Oh, for goodness's sake - whatever is the matter with you? Can't you take a slight intoxication with more dignity? Now, in my days..."
Miss Cackle has returned to her office and polishes her glasses for the umpteenth time while she attempts to compose a letter to the Seems' parents, trying to gently break the news to them that their daughter is a bad influence and a disgrace to Cackle's Academy....
Meanwhile Miss Drill scrubs her stained shirt in the kitchen, mumbling and muttering about there being no washing machines and even the pupils always choosing her to pick on, just because she was the only non-witch on the staff...

Seems' best friends, two other new girls, of the name of Rosie Dozy and Sphinx Minx, feel sorry for their classmate and, knowing that Miss Bat's concoctions usually won't work, they nick some forbidden book from the library (Fenella Feverfew's departure to Weirdsister College seems to have restocked the shelves till they are fit to burst) - the "Liber curae bibendi".
However, when their "Anti-Hangover-Potion" is nearly done, they get distracted by the sight of Ethel Hallow, flirting with the new hired boy, Lenny Dave Vince, Ted Blossom's nephew from over the pond (who by the way should be occupied in polishing the girls' Sunday boots down in the dungeons)
While the girls snicker about Ethel going crazy over the boot boy, they slip threescore of threefold clover into the potion instead of just three foils of clover...
as they make young Seems drink the potion, a puff of smoke rises and, alas! there are now three young Seems...
each claims to be the genuine Seems and at least two of them are up to utter mischief - knowing quite well, that the real Seems will be the one to be blamed...
The two wicked Seems go and mess around with the marrows in the greenhouse - put glue on Miss Cackle's chair - pour water down Miss Bat's piano - put up a Booby-trap over the main door for Miss Hardbroom who has just returned from the station after seeing her cousin Anogra off, a wicked witch from abroad, who had paid her a visit - rummage through Miss Drill's things till they find some loveletters by Serge which they pin to the walls of the main hall for everyone to see...
when chaos is complete and the fate of the Academy once more at stake - parent's letters spilling out of the mailbox, threatening to come at once and fetch their daughers to transfer them to some more refined establishment like Pentangles -
another fourth year, called Mildred Hubble, suddenly comes up with an excellent idea.
She brews a *booze-turns-into-lead* potion and makes the three Seems drink it by slipping it secretly into their morning-tea -
then casts a *light-as-air* spell on them all...
soon the three Seems can be seen floating up in the air - and while the genuine Seems soon topples down to the ground again, the two un-intoxicated Seems are blown away, their wails soon growing faint in the distance...
The academy is saved once again and Mildred receives a Medal for Ingenuity...
Seems gets some thousand lines to keep her busy so she cannot sneak off again to meet wicked friends who will lure her into drinking contests at the local pub...
Miss Cackle is released from her chair by an anti-sticking-spell cast by her annoyed deputy head..
Miss Drill gets a new shirt - pink and shortsleeved of which HB does not approve...
Miss Bat is coaxed from the staffroom cupboard by the promise that the piano tuner will immediately be sent for...
Ethel Hallow elopes with the boot boy...
And Seems, Rosie and Sphinx are from now on known as the *fearsome threesome*...
THE END

Cat
