Subject: The Americanization Of Mildred Hubble

So Heather was nice enough to send me the american version of ww on tape

and after the initial shock of hearing millie with a nid west US accent
its not bad at all

the quality of the dubbing is very very good

if u didnt know it was dubbed you probably wouldnt notice

ok

Miss Hardbrooms voice is the real HB its not dubbed and she has her normal brit accent...

Miss Cackle is the real Clare Coulters voice ,but its dubbed in her natural canadian accent...

Miss Bat and Miss Drill sound strange

Millies voice is softer then Georgies...but sounds ok.

Mauds voice is the closest to sounding like the brit version only without the accent

it almost sounds like emma jayne doing an american accent,its that close to her voice..

Drucilla and Ethel (1) sound pretty close the the brit version as well in timbre and cadence...

the others are so so...

so its not that the american version is bad or inferior,its just different

plus the fact the girls are wearing 1960's style british school girl unis makes the accents hard to fathom,but i suppose the average american wouldnt notice

oh,in the school song they sing in american accents ,same words except the put "never" instead of "ne'er" at least it sounded like it to me...

enids accent actually suits her
