I'm glad you asked.

Godsmack has yet to have a Top 40 hit. We're a Top 40 station. Stagga Lee? The only song I've heard by Stagga Lee is hip-hop, and when a hip-hop song makes it big on the Top 40 chart, we'll play it. We're a Top 40 station based in the south, and in general, we don't "break in" hip hop records. We have an urban sister station, Kiss 106.9, that gets first dibs on those.

As far as R.Kelly goes...I personally have deep issues playing "Ignition Remix" while he's currently on trial for videotaping himself with 14 year old girls in leud and sexual activities. Now, if he were merely "charged" with doing something, that'd be one thing...one person's word against someone elses...however, he videotaped it, and now he's going to serve time for it. I just don't feel like there's room on our playlist for an artist with that kind of rap sheet.

I'm not saying the rest of our artists are saints...but I don't know of any others who've engaged in sexual activities with minors as of yet.

Just so you know, while you may hear "Ignition" on the countdown shows and Open House Party, we're one of many Top 40 stations across the country who took this stand. It was either that, or play it two dozen times a week and mentioning his pending jail time and why he's going. We choose to avoid the subject altogether.
