I have been carded buying smokes twice in my life, and one of those times I was over 30. They had just passed a new law that mandated carding anyone who looks 28 or younger. I was probably 32 or so at the time. I had just grabbed some cash, so I didn't have my wallet with me and they wouldn't sell them to me. The funny thing is I had just been to the liquor store, where I had no problem buying a bottle of tequila. Ironically, I used to buy smokes at that same store while wearing my high school uniform. I was carded once at that time, but used to go there practically every day. Nobody ever stopped me. I started smoking tobacco at 13.
