But your daughter will know that, while *you* don't think its an appropriate career choice, society on a whole does. I know I didn't plan my career according to what my parents thought was "right."

It doesn't- but it makes a lot stronger statement than just parents saying they don't like that career choice. And I believe this is one area where that strong statement is absolutley needed.
