Are you a fan of the Crash Test Dummies? It's a Canadian band, so I have no idea how popular they are in the US. But their vocalists have great voices, and the female vocalist's is amazing. Another good vocalist is Veda Hille, a local folk artist. Her music is typically not great (maybe I don't like that brand of folk), but her voice is like sugar. She sings this song, Tuktoyuktuk (sp?) Hymn, and it's so incredible. I love Kristy MacColl's voice, too.

From Gasoline:
"smooth like summer silk, sweet like mother's milk, warm like tenderness, perfume sprayed around my neck, i know it makes no sense, but here i go again... i love gasoline, i love gasoline."
It's a strange comparison, but I kind of get it.
