Not if there's more money to be made without it. If the majority wants God in the schools, God will be in the schools. Just like God is in virtually all of the private schools here now.

My mother taught at a private school that in all its literature claimed to be secular. They did this, she figures, to compete for the non-Christian dollar, as their big competition was the local Catholic prep school, and it did in fact have a sizeable Jewish population, probably for that reason. This allegedly secular school handed out Bibles to students, had fundamnentalist Christian speakers, etc.

In a small town, the "secular dollar" may amount to 5 or 10 families. What's the incentive to compete for that?
