You see this is the exact opposite of what we have experienced here in the burbs, the private schools are often utilized to "fix" specific problems, dh was sent to private school for a year to put him back on track academically in highschool (it worked) and he returned to public school doing well. I had several friends in highschool who were pulled because of "social issues" and sent to private school.

I've contemplated sending dd to the private sector only for the one on one, since we would NEVER send her to a religious school, we are left with an elitist school, in my area that doesn't necessarily equate with having a pool of highachieving kids, in actuality as I have found, she is MORE likely to find academically gifted kids in the public school and or homeschool.
