"I would guess that they view this more as suicide, and most people generally feel that when you break laws (as pro-lifers would have the law) you get what you get. Plus, since the church generally views it as a sin, I find they tend to be unconcerned with the women who commit the murder. "

I don't think this is at all the position of the RCC (I can't speak to other faiths). Quite the contrary--there is a real emphasis placed on the damage abortion does to women, to the relationship with God, and on forgiveness.

Here is an example: http://abcnews.go.com/sections/us/DailyNews/church000407.html

I was one both RC and pro-life, and I never felt that women deserved anything they got. I felt that abortion was anti-woman. But I was too naive to understand the nuances of parenthood. It wasn't until an unplanned pregnancy at 23 that I really started to understand (started, mind you, as I wasn't able to choose abortion regardless) the mindset of a woman struggling with doing what is right for her and her family. I spent a short time feeling guilty about bringing my baby into the world when I was so young, so poor, etc. And I was both married and university educated--I can only imagine what a truly poor single woman with little prospect would feel like (in some cases, not all). I can only imagine what a 16 yo would feel like if she aspired to go to college, get married, etc.
