Subject: True Confessions #1

I go through phases on things I'm "addicted" to with my computer time. Right now, I'm back on a Roller Coaster Tycoon kick---a favorite computer game of mine. So please, 'fess up and let us know what your computer game addiction is, or one from the past. I know everyone has at least ONE! In the past I have been hooked on AOE (Age of Empires) and before that in the baby PC era, Chips Challenge.

[> Hmmmm....computer games eh? Well, right now my game of choice is Roller Coater Tycoon 2 (wonder who got me started on that one?) True Confession on my part: I'm a bit addicted to the Friends DVDs. Okay who's next? -- Sara, 13:45:37 02/13/05 Sun [1]

[> ?? Computer games? I think I played something on the Bud Lovers site once. Does that count? Oh I also did the virtual bubble wrap thing after I saw it mentioned here. Nothing else tho. Now if there was a computer game that rewarded you in chocolate I'd be all over it. -- PB, 17:43:53 02/13/05 Sun [1]

[> Computer games? Like Solitaire? I mostly like to hang out here and Lu's. I have a slight e-mail addiction, though. -- Mama Cass, 20:07:45 02/13/05 Sun [1]

[> oooh - I've got some from REALLY the past, lol (or at least about as far PAST as a youngun like me can boast) - anyone remember COMMODORE 64's!!!! LOL - I loved that computer - had two really great games on the TAPE drive - a Snoopy fighting the Red Baron game, and a Lemonade stand game (had to figure out how much sugar and lemons to buy, etc) - of course it also had this really fun game that was about this little person whom "lived in your computer" and whom you had to keep happy - send him books to read, etc - and he'd write you letters which is how you'd find out if he was mad at you.... -- Aria, 22:28:10 02/13/05 Sun [1]

[> [> Then, on to the next computer - I'm not sure if its the one my dad built (from all the tiny pieces) - or if it was a different one - but it definately had OREGON TRAIL - still the coolest computer game of all time on it (well it may have been on the Commodore I don't remember - but I don't think so - it was hard to find stuff for the Commodore because everything in the comptuer store was IBM or IBM compatable at the time) - anyway that was at least 1 or 2 computers before our first computer with Windows 3.1 on it (ooh I thought it was really weird - which then of course windows 95 was weird compared to 3.1)... -- Aria, 22:30:41 02/13/05 Sun [1]

[> [> [> and then off hand - because it could be played on any computer (still can I think as long as you have a dos prompt) is the ever fun (because if you learn at least a little basic you can change it) monkey banana bomb game (anyone know what the real name of it is?) you know where you take turns throwing bananas at each other and blowing up skyscrapers - based on velocity and all that - of course its fun if you go in and change the basic commands - you can make the bombs destroy big ol chunks out of your opponent's buildings, but make theirs not hardly make a dent in yours, lol!! (I'm supposed to be writing a paper - if you're wondering why the long 3 part dissertation on computer games here - and I'm not even up to when I was in highschool!) -- Aria, 22:34:35 02/13/05 Sun [1]

[> oh - and because it might be confusing otherwise - as a guide to approximate years in my above long posts - We had a Vic 20 as early as i can remember, but it didn't have any games, at least not any kiddie ones... We got the Commodore when I started kindergarden because that is what our school district used at the time. I know I found out about Oregon Trail in 3rd grade (at a new school district - we moved - that had stupid Apple computers - but I've forgiven them because they did expose me to Oregon Trail - and then our first computer with windows was probably when I was in 6th grade - though maybe my dad's computer did have it on it a year before that, but I remember being in this house with the first windows computer we had -- Aria, 22:55:51 02/13/05 Sun [1]

[> [> [> My kids did "Learning with Leaper" on the Commodore. We had a bazillion games for that thing and hubby was deeply addicted to it.. Lost Cities of Gold was one of the games. We finnally gave it away to a library to sell in their yard sale. -- PB, 19:15:36 02/17/05 Thu [1]

[> I'm between addictions at the moment ;) Last month I couldn't stop playing Prince of Persia : The Sands of Time for the PS2. Simply amazing game! I recommend it for anyone! I haven't been this engrossed by a game (on console) since Golden Eye for N64. They proved that you can make a killer game *without* all that blood and guts...take THAT Turok2! ;) -- Canrane, 15:33:35 02/14/05 Mon [1]

[> [> That's something I've never had---an actual video game machine thing. We weren't allowed to have one growing up and it kind of stuck. I did LOVE to go to a friend's house in middle school and play Mario Brothers! -- C, 17:26:37 02/14/05 Mon [1]
