Subject: Oscar Thoughts........

Okay---let's hear them. I'm not one to watch all of the Oscar pictures just because, but I've seen....two of them! A whole TWO! So, of course, that makes me an EXPERT!

Wait! I've seen two and a HALF! Because a friend of mine who likes to watch as many as she can loaned me Eternal SUnshine of the Spotless Mind. I was multi-tasking. Bad form. So all I paid attention to was the hair color.

Oscar fans--who would you vote for?!

[> Ooooh! I LOVED that movie. Easily one of the best I've seen all year. Wanna bet it won't win? Was it even nominated?? As for the Oscars...I've never even seen a full one. I can only stomach so many ladies literally falling out of their dresses...disgusting! They're just like the Grammy's. It seems like the truly deserving are recognized only after they pass on...I think they only bothered to reward Denzel after the uproar over the Hurricane fiasco. -- Canrane - And to think I'm the probably the *least* cynical of my friends...LOL, 11:40:13 02/24/05 Thu [1]

[> none of the nominees - I haven't seen that many movies this year, but none of the ones I have are on here...(inside) -- Aria, 20:49:06 02/24/05 Thu [1]

The Passion of the Christ, Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason (got to see my Colin Firth!!!), the Phantom of the Opera... what else - well those would be my 3 favorites, even though only the Passion really deserves any awards... Phantom had bad casting (and what was the costume designer thinking with the Red Death outfit - definately didn't work as well as the stage one), and Bridget Jones - I wouldn't even go see it if it wasn't for Colin Firth, mostly because its more "vulgar" than I'd like (but then I own Love Actually for the same reasons, despite the same objections, lol)

What else did I see this year?? I'm not really sure - saw The Prince and Me - it was cute - but definately not award material... whatelse - I'm getting really confused - I'd probably start listing ones from last year or so, lol

[> Not really a comment on the Oscars, but has anyone seen the movie Sideways? I think it looks pretty good but I'd like to get some opinions first. -- Sara, 18:17:20 02/25/05 Fri [1]

[> [> Here is what I've heard about Sideways.....from pete (sister) "You won't like it?" (from friend) "Why did your sister say you wouldn't like it?" (sister) "because it's two guys sitting around talking about wine." (friend) "but it was funny." (another friend) "was it vulgar?" (collegue) "oh yes, but funny. Really funny. Best served with wine and cheese so my daughter is taking wine to the movie when she goes." (me) "Eh, I'll see it on video" -- C, 18:21:24 02/25/05 Fri [1]

[> [> [> Hmmm, that review wasn't so good. I guess I'll have to make a judgement call. All I'm basing this on is a preview I saw of the two leads on a golf course. -- Sara, 18:34:11 02/25/05 Fri [1]

[> Our 21 yr old son made us see "Napoleon Dynamite" with him. That is the only recent thing I have seen and you either like it or hate it. -- PB, 19:19:23 02/27/05 Sun [1]

[> [> I had no idea that was a movie until on Christmas Day my family was at the zoo and I overheard a woman bribing her kid or something about the movie. I thought it was horrid that a parent was talking about using dynamite on someone. My sister corrected me. I still have no idea what the movie was about. -- C, 21:14:42 02/27/05 Sun [1]

[> [> [> LOL! I saw the previews for it while watching "Garden State". I kinda want to see it now...As for "Garden State"...huge letdown. I LOVE Scrubs, and the guy who plays JD was in it...so I had high hopes. While there were a few funny moments and a couple of touching ones too, on the whole, it felt too contrived. You can't force quirkiness IMO. -- Canrane - (and there were definitely a few scenes I could have lived without. Gross!), 14:37:05 03/04/05 Fri [1]
