The downtown core of the community hasn't changed much for many years, and is still the heart of everyday activity. Center City, the large mall, underwent an ownership change but otherwise remains mostly the same as when it was first built. With its vast variety of shopping options, it is still a popular way to waste a rainy day or a lazy summer afternoon. The Commons remains an integral part of the downtown, with its variety of dining options - from romantic fine dining to ethnic food court style to a casual hangout diner. Also in the area is the recreation center, which is open twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. As technology advances, so does the rec center, but most importantly it is still a welcoming, convenient place to stay in shape - complete with the indoor track, swimming pools, and daycare facility. Longtime resident Jaden King still maintains ownership, but has learned to delegate more of the management duties to the younger generation to give himself more free time and less responsibility.

  Since they had run into each other at the shin-dig in the city, he had been trying to spend as much time with her as he could. Easily, without a doubt, he would admit that he was attracted to her physically but he was passed pursuing a woman just because she turned him on, at this point in his life he was looking for the real thing, the long haul girl. She had a lot of the qualities that he was looking for in a woman and he adored her child. Everyone and anyone knew that he loved kids, wanted a huge family like his own was and just wanted to have that happily ever after story book life. His hand ran over his shaved head as he spotted the little waterpark deal that was off the center street of downtown and he smiled a little, thinking that Leo would have a ball there. Quickly enough, he pulled out his cell phone and dialed her number. While he liked taking the time to get to know her better when it was just him and her, he also liked spending time with her and Leo. She was such a good mom and he liked to watched her interact with her child. If she would agree to come, maybe he would call up his sister and see if she wanted to drop off Trin to hang out with them...maybe she could find a sitter for Maliik too and have a night for just her and husband.....

      • She wandered back into the kitchen to get Leo a beaker of juice, talking to Kier as she went "Yeah he's here..." His dad had been promising to take him tot he waterpark for over a week now but he kept cancelling and Leo was feeling pretty rotten about it, so Portia grinned at his suggestion, feeling that familiar warmth fill her at the thoughtfullness of Kier.   • The small smile on his face blossomed into a full sized one when she agreed and he let out a soft breath that he didn't realize he had been holding. "Great, sounds great. I am going to give Summer a call and swing by there to pick up her kids, Trin had a good time with Leo the other day." He quickly said his goodbyes before he got to wrapped up in just talking to her - as he had a tendancy to do - and then headed over to his sisters house. Soon enough, after some bullshitting with Kai - who the family was finally starting to warm up to - he was back at the waterpark, buying tickets for the kids, himself and Portia and then ordering up some icecream to be developed up to them when everyone got there. Trin was excited to have another kid to play with and was promising to watch over Maliik and be a 'ggod big sister'.   • Portia and Leo arrived soon afterwards, Portia looking stunning in a simple sundress over her bikini, large designer sunglasses hiding her face, her golden brown hair left loose, carrying a beach bag over her shoulder- Leo already had his arm bands on and was hopping around , holding his moms hand and using her as a leverage to jump higher as they approached the water park gates. As soon as he spotted leo though he took off at a run- and portia has to jog to keep up or risk loosing his hand . As they got close enough she let him go and the little boy all but collided with Kiers legs. Portia flashed \Kier a bright grin and slipped the glasses off her beautiful face "Hey... Hey Trin! Wow...   • A warm smile decorated his lips when he saw them approaching, grinning when he saw that Leo already had his floaters on and was ready to go. "Hey bella..." He murmured softly, leaning in to press a chaste kiss to her cheek before he offered to take her bag for her. Leading the way to the table he had reserved, he dropped the bag into the extra chair and then picked up Maliik to secure him into the booster seat. He knew the toddler had a tendancy to disappear at a moments notice, much to his parents chagrin, and had to make sure he kept a close eye on him at all times. She murmered, letting him lead the little part to the table. Portia loved Kiers neice and nephew and Leo loved having other kids to play with- Portia didn't know many other people with kids and didn;t have time for things like play dates- so he loved outings like this- they both did. Portia sat down and cupped her delicate chin in her hand as she watched Kier with her son, smiling prettily. "I got some icecream on the way for us, hope that's ok?" He thought Leo had eaten earlier but he didn't want to ruin the boys lunch if he hadn't. A grin crossed his lips again before he moved to sit down next to her, Leo on his lap and Trin squeezing in to sit next to Portia. "I thought maybe after this me and you would go out to dinner....I am sure Summer would keep an eye on Leo for a couple of hours, she'd love for Trin to have someone to play with..." As children she and Summer and Autumn had been pretty good friends- their parents had all been close afterall, but Portia had moved to Italy at a fairly young age and didn't return until she was sixteen, so it had been a while since the girls had had much to do with each other, she felt bad imposing on them now. The prospect of dinner with him was good though, while she loved watching him with her son and the three of them all being together- alone time with him was equally valuable.   She was sat at an inside booth at a diner, waiting for Andre to come along. She'd gone some time before she'd spoken to him, trying to compose herself. Now she still wasn't sure what she wanted, but she knew she wanted to see him - she'd called, hoping he could arrange for someone to watch the baby, and so here she sat, strangely nervous - though it shouldn't, by any rights, be any different from the plates of fries they had shared all summer together before the child had come into the picture. She turned her fork over and over on the formica table, shredding her napkin anxiously.

  He had had to go into work for the morning, but was supposed to be meeting her here now so they could do a little baby-shopping. She was just done with shows and all that now so she could have some time off, and he was still working part-time - just taking care of the necessary things - so they really hadn't had time until now to try to get things in order. Sometime it seemed all very natural to her, but he was feeling a little overwhelmed - like they had nothing prepared and this baby was going to be here sooner rather than later, but nothing was at all ready. The worst part was that he didn't even really know what there was that he had to get ready. It was all very confusing to him, but he did have some confidence that they would sort things out. Sipping at a lattι, he waited patiently for her in the coffee shop that was their designated meeting place. One hand loosened the top button of his shirt and then pushed through his shaggy dark hair - the jeans and shirt with blazer casual work-wear look perfected on him...

  • She had been in a meeting and was running a few minutes late but was smiling and glowing when she swept in, causing a few people to look her way. She was more and more popular in her music, shooting up the charts with both her single and her video and more easily recognizable now but all in all, she was just a very pretty girl who exuded a sweet happiness that made people just want to smile when they saw her. Her smile widened even more when she saw him sitting down, heading over to him immediatly. "Hey! Sorry I am late...got a little hung up." She shifted to take off her messenger bag, setting it on the table in favor of sinking down into a chair. "I think I am gonna have to put away my boots for awhile, my ankles are so stinkin' swollen I can feel that the boots are gettin' to tight." She sighed dramatically before grinning at him. He had no where else to be that day except with her, so it was a nice, somewhat foreign feeling, to be able to ignore any sort of schedule and just do things at their own pace. The little sweater that he had picked out also seemed fitting for the late winter weather when their baby was due. It worked.   The afternoon had been mild and the turning leaves beckoning him from inside his office where he'd been trapped since very early this morning.. on top of that, with Aly getting so close to bursting, he couldn't keep himself away a second longer, so he had stopped at the deli on the way home, grabbed some sandwiches and salads, stopped at home, picked up some fleece blankets and Aly and carted them here. It wasn't all that cold, but he had wound her up in a blanket before seating himself, and dished her out some food. Now that he'd finished his, he was stuck to her side, leaning back on his palms, looking at the reds and oranges that were starting to show through on the trees in the park. This was the life. He could imagine this scene next fall, except with a child running around in a little knit sweater.

  Autumn wandered down the side walk leasuirely, her purse hanging from its strap which was laced through her fingers, her heels clicking against the concrete as she walked. She wore a pair of faded denims , bleached and studded around the pockets and such with rhinestones. A white halter hugged her toned frame, her highlighted brown hair falling midway down her back, her bangs swept across her forehead and tucked behind her ear. The evening hadn't gone well right from the minute he showed up on her doorstep. For one thing he'd called her 'August'... for another he'd gone out and started the car up before she was even out of her building. things had gone from bad to worse as he constantly forgot her name all through the date and then rounded the evening off with a cocky "So- your place or mine?"... so Autumn had opted to walk home. Or at least walk somewhere. It was still fairly early- only half tenish, and it was a nice walm, balmy evening. Far too nice a night to be heading home yet.

  Portia accepted a glass of champagne with a smile, letting her dark brown eyes drift back to the group she was talking to... a theatre actor, a soap opera star and a couple of football players. She felt kind of obligated to come to these charity events- it didn;t feel right turning them down and it looked bad if she never went to ANY of the events her agents lined up for her. She was supposed to be getting as much media attention as she could- she was still pretty new to the US modelling scene but to be honest she didn;t want to attract TOO much media attention- she wanted Leo to grow up like any other normal kid. She tended to do more serious modelling work- catwalks and expensive, exclusive fashion modelling- less mainstream stuff. She was happy with it that way- she had no ambition to the nations newest Super Model.
  She was dressed in the dress her agents gave her- that was the one draw back- she couldn;t wear whatever she wanted anymore. The floaty champagne coloured Dolce & Gabbana gown, her dark hair curled and pinned back from her beautiful face. She excused herself from the group headed over towards the belcony- she needed some air.

  • He had been making his rounds, sipping on champagne when he would much rather have a beer and wearing a tailored armani suit when he would much rather be in jeans and a t-shirt. He was a sucker for these charity events for kids though and being that he was a rather well known name, he always came to bring publicity to the cause. There was only so much he could take though, of the touching and fawning and the fakeness and before long he found himself slipping outside to the balcony, desperately wishing it wasn't so close to training so he could indulge in a cigar.   He had filed away information from more parenting books than he cared to recall in the last few weeks and while he was still confused about what pregnant women could and could not do, he figured coming down to the green to watch the fireworks across the river couldn't hurt her too much. They'd brought the dogs as well, being across the river from the fireworks dampened the noise so it didn't bother them so they were stretched out on a checkered blanket on the grass in the dark, flanked by two rather intimidating looking dogs (well, Hugo when it was dark anyways!), waiting for the fireworks to begin. He had an arm wound around her waist, supporting her against his side, his long legs stretched out and crossed at the ankles in front of him, sighing contentedly.

  • Alysia looked extremely dis-proportioned with her long slender legs and arms and then a huge pot of a pregnant belly jutting out infront of her. She was eight months gone and in the scorching summer heat she was just counting down the days until she popped. Her blond curls were braided loosly either side of her head, a pair of white draw-string pants sitting under her stomach, a pink sequened and beaded loose shirt stretched over her round belly, the sleeves longer than they ought to be. She gazed up at the fireworks with an almost childlike awe, gasping with delight at some of the bigged ones as she leant against her husband, a hand resting on her stomach idly.   She had been seeing a therapist regularly for some time now, since she had finally broken down and decided she needed help and with some modifications to her diet and general lifestyle, she was turning back into the slender, fun loving girl that had been in school only a year ago, preparing for the career of a lifetime. She didn't resent Isaiah or the life that she and Danny were sharing one tiny bit, but she missed the stage, the attention. She wouldn't have been a bit surprised for the therapist to diagnose her with a slightly narcissistic personality, she wanted to be the center of attention -- and she basically ached for acting now.
  
  She had brought Isaiah out to the park as the weather was getting finer and warmer and there were players on the grass, performing various skits and the like. She was plunked down on the grass on a blanket with Isaiah in her arms and the stroller parked beside them, basking in the warm spring sun, her dark hair pulled back into a ponytail, sporting a peasant skirt and generous ruffled top to hide what belly she did still have left.

  • Danny wandered down through the park with his younger sister Laila and his neice Saskia- he'd picked his sister and her daughter up from the shopping city on the way home from work and Laila had wanted to take her tot he park before heading back to her and her husbands home. The two year old was babbling to Danny as he carried her- Laila pushing the empty stroller. They looked incredibly like brother and sister- both had the predictable spanish dark hair and tanned skin, though laila had bright blue eyes inhertited form their mother- Danny's were a deep brown like their fathers. Danny grinned a little when he spotted his own wife and child, following the curve of the path around tot hem and heading over "Hey princess, theres my boy!"   He was settled on a swing within an arm's reach of a sandbox where a two and a half year old boy that was undeniably dark featured like his father dug with a stick in the slightly wet mud. While he was enthusiastic about the fathering thing, he wasn't the most adept or skilled, but what he lacked in talent, he made up for in heart. The boy raised a fistful of wet sand toward his mouth and Dallas shot out of his seat on the swing, gently prying the sand out of Jordan's hand and taking a perch on the wooden frame of the sandbox beside the boy, watching him intently. The little thing was still quite an alien, but he was slowly getting the hang of it. He worried, however, about how Selena would take to the boy.. she wasn't exactly the queen of cool when it came to new situations, and he knew that the entire fact that this boy was supposedly his flesh and blood and the realization that he himself had, indeed, been with other women didn't sit very well with her..

  • She was supposed to be meeting him here and she was excited to be out in the warm sunshine. Keisha was trotting obediantly at her heels, as happy as her owner was to be out and about in the sun. She was nearly jogging in her anxiousness to get out and be around him - she'd missed him since he had been so busy with the toddler and shooting a new movie so any time available to be spent was well welcomed. She was happy he had decided to meet here instead of the mall or something, she wasn't good around a lot of people just because she always felt like she was missing something, like something was going on that she didn't know about. The smile on her lips faded just a touch when she saw the little boy who looked so much like her boyfriend.   She had ended up at the mall because she was bored and what better way to alleviate boredom then to shop using her very generous husbands credit card? Her arms laden down with bags, she hailed a cab and had them take her to his office building, heading up the elevator and then up into his office, stopping to chat with the secretary for a long moment, talking about the babies and all that. It was impossible to miss she was pregnant, at seven months she was huge and took up most doorways. She complained about it a lot, the new weight hurt her back, her ankles were swollen and nothing fit her anymore but in all honesty she was getting more and more excited each day about their babies. One of the men in the office took her bags for her, walking behind her to Fallon's office. "Hey babe." She smiled brightly, tipping her head to the side after she walked in and gazed around. There was a picture of her on the desk which she thought was adorable and then his books and papers were along one bookcase on the wall. She stopped in here about once a month but she figured he would be heading out soon and she could get a ride home with him. A smile played on her lips as she ran her hand over her stomach absently, her other hand on her back. She turned to thank the man who brought her bags before she looked back to Fallon. Really, money was no object with them at the moment, the nursery was finished, extravagant, even, this child would be spared nothing, everything the child needed and wanted would be presented. He was getting very excited, to be fair, and he loved to see her - he spent as little time at the office and the most time he could at home these days, he loved the shape of her, and spending time with her.. he just loved her, that was the easiest way to put it. He tipped his face to the side for the kiss and took her wrist gently, pulling her down into my lap. "You should have told me, I would have come with.. I don't want you getting too tired." He would have probably carted her around in a wheelchair. "It's going fine."   (He had started receiving the letters about her three days before, starting the very day he had let her leave his life. He had thought perhaps he could get over her, but he had gone into his bathroom and seen the towel she had used, smelled her there and had cursed himself some sort of damn idiot to let a lass like that out of his life. But he wasn't the type of man that deserved a true commitment, the kind that swore the ancient clan oath and took a wife.. she deserved that, not him. He had worried, paced and thought about ways to warn her.. but nothing short of himself protecting her would satisfy his concerns, so here he was. Standing in the little space between a coffee shop and the laundromat next door, he was huddled against the building, his black leather duster making him look dangerous, the way it swept to his ankles and the collar was pulled up to hide most of his face. His stunning whiskey eyes were scanning the crowds, looking for her among the last minute Christmas shoppers. A patrol car went by and he swung gracefully into the full shadow of the building, praying in Gaelic for sanity.. if he got caught now and she was left out there without protection he would go insane. THe thought struck him again as it had several times since the previous evening when he had heard the police radios and found two patrolmen outside his building.. she had turned him in.. how else would they have found him so quickly. He sighed, half grateful the patrol car had kept going, and have angered at the feelings of betrayal coursing through him.   • She had gotten the note and known immediatly it was him, recognizing his scrawl where he had written her name on the front of the note. She had read it at least eight times throughout the day and now she was coming out the back door into the hallway. She was dressed professionally now in a pair of black slacks and a red v-neck shirt with a black matching jacket, her hair twisted up in a bun and a slight hesitant smile on her lips as she saw him.   He was pushing, of all things, a baby stroller around the mall with Angel at his side. He looked more then a little out of place, with his over six four feet tall form and his huge muscles...with a baby stroller. Not to mention that the baby was in Angel's arms, squealing and laughing. He cocked a brow, looking over at Angel with a smirk, shaking his head. "Even he's laughing at me." It had been a little weird, since Christian's birth mother had showed up and he could tell that it threw Angel off a little bit but he tried to soothe her as much as possible. It was obvious that Christian viewed Angel as his mother, not the other woman, and he was trying to encourage normal famly things and thus the reason they were christmas shopping at the overly decorated mall.

She loved how he looked with both baby and stroller, but she knew he felt self conscious "He's laughing with you baby, not at you." She was feeling slightly better about the whole birth mother thing... though she wasn;t pressing the adoption as much as she had been- in all honesty she was just waiting for all this to come crashing down. She'd never been an insecure person... but she had nightmares about Vin leaving her and taking Christian and going back to the mother of his child... that was something she could never be- not really. The longer she left it the harder it was getting to tell him... but she just didn;t know how. She shifted the baby in her arms a little and glanced down at him, a smile touching her lips as she caught the little boy gazing up at her adoringly. It almost broke her heart sometimes. "What next?"   It was shaping up to be a pretty good day was the only though on her mind as she walked through the food court with Samara's hand in hers, heading to Dairy Queen to get icecream. They had a bit of a day planned with shopping, glow in the dark putt putt and more shopping of course. The little girl was nearly radiating happiness being with her mom and Skye was looking pretty happy herself. Clad in a pair of low slung, destroyed jeans, a sparkling belt and a black vintage tee that stretched across her chest proclaiming "Johnny Cash : Man in Black". She was earning her share of looks from guys passing by, most assuming that Sam was her sister and not her daughter. She was settling down with her icecream - chocolate and vanilla swirled with chocolate swirls and sprinkles on top - Sam eating the same thing.
