Subject: Respiratory problems, I need advice!

This summer I moved my mare to a boarding faclility in an area much drier than what she's used to, with little pasture, and must rely on hay and grain for most of her food. She started coughing almost right away once she got there, and I attribute it to the dry, sandy conditions. However, her cough has recently been getting wet-sounding, not just a dry cough, and once in a while when I work her, her breathing gets very labored and it sounds like there is mucous flapping in her throat. This will continue for a while, she coughs a lot, then it will just suddenly clear up and she's fine. She hasn't had a runny nose and hasn't had a fever at all. Some days her breathing seems forced even at rest, other days she's fine. I haven't noticed any correlation to her symptoms and the humididty, temperature, etc. Could this just be allergies, or is it more serious? If anyone has any suggestions, I would appreciate any advice.
