Subject: "clicking" joints

I'm currently leasing a 7yr old quarter horse gelding with an option to buy. He's a wonderful horse, but has "clicking" joints. I'm afraid this may develop into arthritis. I've had him on a FLEX supplement now X4wks. The clicking doesn't seem to cause him any discomfort, but isn't 7rs kind of young for joint problems? Should this deter me from buying him? Any advice??????
