Well if TW that your talking about is tennessee walkers I'm right in your alley. I ride young horses for a trainer and I own two two year olds. They are the clumbsyist things I have ever been on. They can get so excited or in their small attention span get distracted and trip over themselves. I have found that by taking mine around at a dog walk or a nice easy flat walk, they learn placement of their legs a little better. The more you work like this, the more confident they get. The more confidence you build in their gait, the better they can perform it and then you can ask for more speed. A few months ago I lost my seat at a show because I was riding a clumbsy two year old who tripped and couldn't recover. I have ridden young horses who weren't put through methodical training and she flat out fell over on me because she got so tripped up.
-good luck-
