  Hi, I don't know if this has been posted already but I just found it and needed to share it :) If you already knew, sorry for posting it again.
  George RR Martin said in his Livejournal that he has finished WARRIORS Anthology and it will be out in March 2010 by Tor, it includes the next Lord John adventure The Custom of the Army.

  • I ran down to Borders today to see if they had the Pre-publication booklet and they did! It was a little excerpt piece of heaven!     • I did too! I picked mine up on Sunday. I slowly read through them excerpts, & many I hadn't seen before, so that was an extra special treat.   Diana posted (not for the first time, either!) a rather strongly-worded warning on Compuserve yesterday,
  
  "Well, at least until the book is out, you can't peek at anything I don't want you to see. After that...well, all I can say is, if you read the last page of ECHO first, You Will Regret It."
  
  And then when someone speculated on appropriate theme music to go with this warning, she suggested the theme from JAWS(!)
  
  Please pass this warning along to any fans you know. Whatever you do, DON'T read the last page of ECHO first!

  I am rereading the books in anticipation of Echo in the Bone's arrival. I am just past the part in Drums where Brianna reveals her pregnancy to Claire and Jamie sells Roger down the river.
  During the conversation between Bree and Claire, she tells her about her encounter with Roger and then about the rape by Bonnet. She seems very concerned that she has disappointed Claire with Roger, but glareingly absent is the hand-fasting with Roger prior to having sex with him. Now this would seem to me to be way up there on the list of things to tell her, not only to let Claire know that she was not just hopping in bed with him, but that she wanted a commited relationship before this action.
  In this context the conversation with Jamie would certianly have been easier.
  I do understand that it serves the action in the book, but seemed to me to be inconsistent with the character, Bree.
  This truly is one of the more gut-wrenching (among so many) and I just had to read one page at a time to ease up onto this part. I, along with all of you guys. cannot seem to get enough of these characters.
  I would enjoy some input here as to why Bree chose to omit this critical issue.

  • This excerpt has nothing to do with a Cease Fire, unless you were following the CompuServe discussion regarding “signature lines used by posters” and what is acceptable/not acceptable under the rights of free speech, etc.…..very entertaining discussion, by the way.     • Och well remember Roger grew up in the middle classes of the 50s and 60s and it was a fairly new concept, wives going out to work then. By the time I got married in 1969 it was accepted as the done thing mostly. Out here in Australia though women had to leave the teaching profession and some others if they got married! Quaint! Led to rumours about one of my kid's teachers , Miss Paterson, being the news of the school as being pregnant but luckily it turned out she'd been married to Mr Soanso for quite a while!   I see there has been some discussion about the publication date of ECHO. Having been through this twice before, I can say with authority that until DG tells us she is finished the book, any and all dates are pure speculation. I know we would all like to see the book published in the fall but it may be winter or even (god forbid) spring before we see it. All of these dates are based on "best guesses", although in Amazon's case I think they pick it out of a hat. When we get an actual date from DG, trust me it will be announced here (and on CompuServe, and on LOL, etc).
  
  Just keep that in mind.

In ABOSAA I got the impression that Claire/Jamie wrote to Bree (not) knowing if she would ever receive the letters…..add to that Bree’s surprise when Roger came home with the box…..But in this excerpt, It appears that Claire is (sure) that Bree will get them. What’s really weird is that Claire is thinking to have Bree look thru her old papers to see if Mr. Beauchamp is an old relative??? • I think I'm officially going nuts. I don't think I can bear to wait another year for the next one. They don't come fast enough, but at the same time I'm scared to death for the final book to ever come out. I really don't think I can bear it if either one of them dies or god forbid if Claire goes back again. I just can't stand the thought of them being seperated again in any way.   • I'm not for sure, and of course, with DG, until it's on the page, nothing is for sure, but I think that somewhere along the line she indicated that they would die together in maybe the early 1800s, but the main thing I remember is that they die together.     • Do you remember where that scene is? I also remember Jamie describing a dream he had to Claire, where she is sitting at a desk writing a letter and it is in her own time. But when she asks him to describe what she looks like, he doesn’t remember….I have always hoped that dream was one he had prior to her return, when she was writing her departing letter to Bree….But then again, I also have a shadow of memory of him saying something about her being older, but can’t place than in any of the books.   • I think it's in ABOSAA, sometime after they decide Bree and Roger will go back. I don't remember him saying she looked older, so I always thought that he was dreaming of when she was writing her goodbye letter to Bree. I could be wrong though (all the books merge together a bit for me, and it's been a while since I read ABOSAA). I truly hope that she doesn't go back again though.   • I just purchased the three books I needed to complete my series. They had them in Borders in paperback which is what I wanted. The hardcover is tough to read in bed. I got the other three at a garage sale..25 cents each if you can imagine. I have been looking for the scene in ABOSAA but haven't found it yet.     • That’s what I remember too!! She asks him what she looks like and he can’t say she is older/younger, etc…It’s just her. Soooo, we are left not knowing how old she is or who she is writing to and can only guess if it is before she came back to him or a future scene in the book we haven’t read yet. I was really hoping this reference to his dream describes what he saw before she came back to him in Voyager, but after seeing some of DG’s comments on the way this next book is shaping up, I think we will be left dangling from a hangmen’s noose…just barely breathing till the next book comes out!!!       • I agree 100 percent. I for one can't wait for each book to come out, but I know when we do finally get to the last one, I'm going to be torn between wanting to read and not wanting to, for fear of what happens. My biggest fear is that she has to go back for whatever reason, and Jamie's dream was actually of the future and her writing her memoirs or something of the sort. • MENTAL TELEPATHY: At the end of ABOSAA when Roger and Bree are at Lallybroch, Jemmy says, She’s a feisty wee baggage…My Grandda said so…referring to Mandy. And then we have Jamie saying the exact same thing about Mandy to Claire when he tells her about the dream he had of the children at Lallybroch (in excerpt from Echo).   • I would be really cool if Jemmy could see what his Grandda and other family members are up to….as things actually are happening…just as we’ve seen Jamie having dreams of the kids and their surroundings.
