Hi everyone,

I see there has been some discussion about the publication date of ECHO. Having been through this twice before, I can say with authority that until DG tells us she is finished the book, any and all dates are pure speculation. I know we would all like to see the book published in the fall but it may be winter or even (god forbid) spring before we see it. All of these dates are based on "best guesses", although in Amazon's case I think they pick it out of a hat. When we get an actual date from DG, trust me it will be announced here (and on CompuServe, and on LOL, etc).

Just keep that in mind.

- There is another tiny snippet on page 5 with one of the women complaining to Roger that she's not seen his wife in Kirk yet. It is funny too. In it he has to admit that she is a Catholic. Darn, I was really REALLY hoping he wouldn't still be a minister in the future. I guess every story needs some conflict and her being Catholic is a good plot device to cause him trouble with his flock...but I HATE the thought of nosy church people into the family's business all the time. MENTAL TELEPATHY: At the end of ABOSAA when Roger and Bree are at Lallybroch, Jemmy says, She’s a feisty wee baggage…My Grandda said so…referring to Mandy. And then we have Jamie saying the exact same thing about Mandy to Claire when he tells her about the dream he had of the children at Lallybroch (in excerpt from Echo).   - This struck me as odd too. In ABOSAA I got the impression that Claire/Jamie wrote to Bree (not) knowing if she would ever receive the letters…..add to that Bree’s surprise when Roger came home with the box…..But in this excerpt, It appears that Claire is (sure) that Bree will get them. What’s really weird is that Claire is thinking to have Bree look thru her old papers to see if Mr. Beauchamp is an old relative???     - I’ve often wondered if they made some kind of arrangement to communicate between themselves after Bree/Roger had to return to the future. I even asked DG once if Claire/Jamie were to have Fergus print messages in the Onion, if Roger/Bree would be able to find/read them in the newspaper’s archives…and she said, good question and that she hadn’t thought about that, but then she said….Well, they’ll have the letters. - Very Interesting Indeed!! I wonder who Jamie is referring to when he says “they wouldn’t have knocked”?? It sounds as though he is expecting trouble. And this is the second excerpt I’ve read involving the Bell’s. The last one involved Lord John and Willie having dinner with them and their daughters. And Neil Forbes saying the it was good that Jamie was dead!!! I don’t like that man. He’s up to something and whatever it is, it’s not going to be good for Jamie and Claire.       - I found the other excerpt, but don’t have the message #. I copied it 9/5/07 if that helps. You might scroll back here to find something posted about that time. This was long excerpt & takes place after Bree and Roger leave Willie. LJ comes out of tavern to meet him, his friends and Sergeant Cutter. At end of the excerpt, he tells Willie about going to dinner with the Bells. This particular excerpt also mentions a fellow officer by the name of Randall….and it’s my guess whom that particular (Randall) will be….If you don’t have it or can’t find it, let me know and I’ll email it to you.         When I responded, I was not only thinking of what I’d read, but what was also new…..When I commented on Neil Forbes saying that he was glad Jamie was dead, that was part of the new excerpt I had not seen before…….However, when I saw the reference to the Bells showing up at Jamie’s, I remembered the last time I saw them in the story involving Willie/LJ having dinner with them.         As to the excerpt where (they haven’t even gone back yet)……I think from the excerpts I’ve seen over the last couple years that this next book will more or less start where this scene left off. That is why there is this excerpt that involves Willie/Bree/Roger before they actually left and traveled through the stones. Of course I may be wrong, but then again I thought that was the reason for the excerpt pg at LOL…To guess what we think might happen.   - Do you think the girl is Rachel Hunter? There is another excerpt where Willie is being cared for by Denny and Rachel (the Quaker healers). It wouldn’t surprise me that Ian took Willie to them to have his injury treated and then came back to make sure that he was going to be OK. I wonder what is in the package he gave her?   - He does remember his visit. In below post about excerpt w/LJ & Willie having dinner with Bells, they talk about Willie remembering Mr. Fraser. Willie remembers LJ getting measles and going fishing, but LJ reminds him about falling into the privy. Hi all. I was just on Diana's blog and she is talking about the cover for the new book "Echo" and possibly redoing the covers of the other books. She is asking for opinions from her "Loyal Readers". Just thought I would let everyone know. See if we can help her out.

- I like the cover of "Exit Unicorns"; maybe that style, with vibrant emerald, teal, moss & seafoam greens; embossed Scots Gaelic runes along the border. Each book cover could be a slightly different shade of rich green with a different logo: A standing stone for "Outlander"; a dragonfly for "DIA"; a sailing ship for "Voyager"; a bodhran for "DOA"; a fiery cross for same; a dirk and musket for "ABOSAA" and a thistle for "Echo" because they're going back to Scotland (yea!). - I like my older "fine art" covers up to Fiery Cross. I guess I'm not crazy about Diana's name inside a gold box on the spine of Drums or the red box on the Companion either. The solids are nice and classy looking, but don't fit well with the first ones on my shelf. I wish art covers were available for all of them, but since mine are signed I'd not replace FC or ABOSAA even if new covers were available. I like the fact that there aren't people on any of the covers except the original inside cover of my paperback versions of O and DIA. The drawings were pretty awful. - I remember that the Cherokee women were allowed to choose their husbands, not sure about the Mohawk but I think it was similar…And they could also choose to divorce them as well. Emily was to be wed to another warrior, but after she met Ian…she chose him instead and the “Mothers/Grandmothers” agreed…and the warrior ended up marrying her sister and thus became Ian’s brother-in-law…But, after Ian/Emily’s 1st child died at birth (born premature) and then she continued to have miscarriages, Emily appeared to lose interest/faith in Ian.     - The only clue we have about Ian/Emily is that DG has said on Compuserve that Ian has unfinished business with the Mohawks…..and from that statement I think she is talking about Emily’s involvement with “the warrior” and their divorce??
