I understand where your coming from. Your right regarding there isn't much of a huge market anymore for new QL novels. As for the fanfic part? I'm as perplexed as you, since I've just uploaded my old QL stories to my website and still haven't gotten any hits on it, despite AFTER posting the notice only days ago.
Leapers and Trekkies are different breeds, I found this out many years ago when trying to establish an active QL club. Seems like the Leapers would rather jump on the train while its going instead of helping it leave the station, whereas the Trekkies are always around to give their fandom a good push when needed. Go figure.
That's why Trek has lasted much longer than Leap, the fans love to get their hands dirty to keep the show alive. The Leapers? As die-hard as I am, I stopped turning myself blue in the face when others just gave up before even getting started. Now with Scott's role on "Enterprise" perhaps that'll put some new steam in the fans who've sat on the sidelines for far too long.
