Hey Ding Ding has been quiet for a wee while?!? Yes I have just returned from one of my summer holidays! I went on a boat cruise to Alaska through the scenic world famous Inside Passage. We stopped at an old gold rush town (Sjagway)as well as another place (Ketchikan) famous for the native Indian totem poles. The highlight of the trip was viewing a massive glacier (Sawyer glacier) with the cruise ship stopping right in front of it. We saw chunks of glacier falling of the edge. Short Chow (Chow Sui Hey) would have been super impressed. I also spotted black bear, whales swimming, numerous seals and other wild lives. What a trip! Now back to reality. Anyone has another summer holiday to share?!?!? In August I will have a reunion with other Wah Yan boys (78 grads and 79 grads). The 6 of us will be busy hiking the local mountains as well as busy drinking wine and beer. Life is tough...
Hey folks share your recent holidays.

I've also been quite quiet on the forum lately coz I was travelling like crazy these few weeks, business of course, I do not yet have the luxury to travel for leisure like this. But I will be taking two weeks off in mid-August going to England to dig out old shxt etc etc with my family and Ho Fu Wah.

And about the Alaska cruise, it's been my fantasy for some time now. I am wondering maybe one day we can organise a big gathering on that boat...

How nice!

Don't forget to take photos for us to see this time. Pity that I won't be able to go on any trip until perhaps next Summer.

Yeah! A BIG cruise to celebrate our 40 or 50 would be fantastic! I am ALL for it. Aren't we getting old??? I still prefer the old style of travelling...sleeping in a train station in Germany or a beach in Greece (waking up with nude girls around me). How about the incident that I got picked up by a gay in Southern Germany...hairy experience!

As to photos...not my department. All photos were taken by Elisa my wife and another relative who is now back in HK slaving for Dai Low Sai Lee Ka Shing. He is one of the top guys at HIT (HK Int'l Terminal). He says he will burn a cd for me for the family pictures he has taken for all. WAIT and be patient to the low tech guy.

I just had another holiday with some old school mates from Wah Yan. The 6 of us got together in Seattle and Vancouver area for some hearty hiking. The 'team' consists of my brother Lam Yin Sze (Wah Yan 1978), Soo Siu Shing (WY 1978), Michael Cheung Ming Chee (1978) and Winkle Kwan Ping Chung (1979) and my sister-in-law. We hiked the Mount Rainier area near Seattle and also the Garibaldi area near Whistler area. I felt very safe during the trip as I was surrounded by 3 doctors. Soo Siu Shing is a bacterialogist working in Nottingham UK busily checking bacteria inside Robin Hood's apple. Michael Cheung is an oncologist working at Q.E. hospital (Ah Q hui EEE bang) and Winkle is also an oncologist working with the Fraser Valley Cancer Institute in the Vancouver area. We camped just beside Garibaldi lake at about 5000ft then hiked up to Panorama Ridge 7400ft the next day. We had much protein (numerous flies and mosquitos) during the trip and drank a lot of spring water...kind of reminds our old XV scout trips! Get fit boys and come and join me next summer!

Just come back from holidays too, this time to England with my wife, my boys and of course Uncle Ho Fu. London, Cambridge, Leeds (where I studied), Lake District, Liverpool (stay there for about 2 hours just to buy some Liverpool team jerseys - my elder son and I are both big fans of Michael Owen), Warwick, Windsor (including LegoLand) then back to London. Recollection of the good old days - not as good as those in Wah Yan though. Overall a terrific summer vacation.

Ding Ding and Toby, sorry that I just didn't have time to have take a quick picture of the famous Mount St Mary this time, maybe next time lah.

My number one activity if I were in the UK would be drinking all those authentic dark ales! I miss a good pint badly! Nothing better than washing down a hot Indian curry with a couple of beer!

Don't you have Indian curry, beer and dark ales in Canada ?

Curry's also one of my favorites, but would prefer it to go with Indian nan than beer. I consider that to be some of the wier things gweilo do on Eastern stuffs. Classic example of such wier things is for gweilos to go into a Chinese restaurant, order sweet and sour pork, wun tun soup, fried rice and a bottle of white wine, thinking that they are taking Chinese food, how terrible!

What about us HK people cooking Western Food Chinese style. 'Huck Jiu Ngau Lau' (Black pepper steak) and Law Sung Tong (Russian Broth) and those so called Mak Sai Gor Bau (Mexican Bun). I call those restaurants 'See Yau Sai Charn' (Cooking western food with Soya sauce). What about those 'Yuk Cheung Yee Fun' (Minced meat spaghetti) - Italians would have a great laugh on the melt-in-your-mouth spaghetti. Love those food to death just like a Gweilow loves fried rice and sweet/sour pork.

Yes we do have Indian food here (with nan bread). In fact I had some last Saturday with 3 other Wah Yan boys. The atmosphere here is not the same neither is the beer here compare to a REAL British ale in Britain. By the way, nan bread is NOT a substitute to a good ENGLISH dark ale. You cannot compare apples to oranges.

Lam, have you tried good Mexican food? We have a restaurant here that makes the best fajita in the world. It's cheap and I too can wash it down with beer!!! Yum Yum...may be I should go tonight!

Ding
