Jenny,

Your dog(s)are performing, as the saying goes, where the rubber meets the road. My dogs do not live in that type of situation and therefore will likely never have the opportunity to be real life tested, but I have a pretty good idea of which ones I want by my side should the need arise. In my opinion, titles are kind of like a diploma. Just because you have one it does not make you necessarily more capable of doing the work/job than one who does not. I have my dogs participate in the process of earning a title because I enjoy the competition, the dogs have fun and it is a good public forum to show off their capabilities. Part of it is also exploring the possibilities of different venues. I applaud anyone who is accomplishing their goals with their dogs, publicly or where the rubber meets the road.

I have observed in other breeds, and believe it will also hold true for the Boerboel, that as the breed grows in popularity, the buying public will demand more. More heath testing, more third party evaluation, etc. Whether it is real-life or training/competition scenarios will depend upon the buyers preference.

On another note, I have tried to be thoughtful and non offensive in my posts in which I have bragged publicly at what I consider to be my dog’s accomplishments. It is unfortunate that post of that nature have become a point of contention and thus I feel uncomfortable posting those now and I will discontinue them here.

Finally, Jenny, I hope Bob is recovering with ease.

Kerri
