My 5 yr old female has been under Anesthesia three times in the last five years.

Without talking to my vet on how long she was under each time; I will list the procedures, and also the age she had them done.

1st time at 18 mos for hip prelim, 2nd time at 20 months for Spaying, and 3rd time at 4 yrs 4 mos for removal of several cysts and a large skin tag.

The first two-- X-ray's and Spaying were without complications.

The third -- Which I believe was also probably the longest surgery, her heart rate dropped lower than what the vet would normally be comfortable with, so she was given Atropine.

The vet said it wasn't a true life or death emergency, but that he wanted to intervene before it became one. He also said, if she needs Anesthesia in the future she will need to be monitored very closely for complications.

I have had other non Mastiff breeds who have had surgeries without any complications from Anesthesia.

Thanks for bringing up this topic. I hope you find my information useful.
