Hello everyone,
Just a little info about starting a Boerboel rescue as well as what we are trying to do at the Boerboel Network.
I would love to see a real rescue for these guys but here are some things you will run into...
First, at least for now the breed is still rare~ish, there are just not that many of them out there...yet.

Second, The dogs are located all over the country and world.
How to you get them all in one location to offer a true rescue?

Third, How do you find them? The world is a big place..

Fourth, Don't under estimate the time, money and effort that goes into it..trust me on this.

Point being, there is allot more to the dynamics of starting a rescue for this breed, many have tried and talked about it over the years but there are reasons that
aren't obvious that make it almost impossible.
Not that I like it but its a simple matter of logistics.

To clear some things up, The Boerboel Network is not a rescue for Boerboels, it's intended to be a central location of all the dogs that we know of that need homes.
The site does say that.
Its also not intended to be a group or community there are plenty of those out there already.
Locate, rescue and adoptions..thats what we are focused on.
Yes we get info from Pet Finder, as well as other rescues, people posting on boards...anywhere and everywhere I find a dog..I will post them.
Our site and the network are young, it takes time to reach out to people all over the world to let them know to contact you if they have a dog in need. It doesn't happen by itself or over night. Sometime it takes beating the pavement of the internet to find these guys.
Today the site is small and humble, but in five years who knows right?
You have to start somewhere.
Anyway..
The goal is to centralize so if people are looking for a dog, regardless of where they are from we might know of one.
We also try to provide real information about the breed before people decide to get one. Not every thing you read on the breeders sites about these guys is true...
Saves the dogs from ending up or back at the pounds. Better to be pro-active then re-active.
We also courtesy post for other rescues/pounds that we like or work with.
We also have a small rescue of our own, this really has nothing to do with the Boerboels all the time. We help any dog. But if we find one close enough to us you bet we'll get them out of the clink. One of our Boerboels is a rescue dog from the Boston pound.
Our site tries to serve several purposes.
Sharon, the internet is a rough place these days, its not smart to put out any more personal info out there then you have to. We are easy to contact from either the web site or face book. Anyone who wants to know more about us or contact us can very easy.
Even if its to say.... I don't like your site or other constructive input.
And last....
I'm not sure what everyone's definition of a "rescue" is but..
I think you will find most rescues are really a network of people from around the country or world and not a single entity. Double Dawg rescue is a good example, yes the one you see on TV. They are a nation wide group of people that work together.

I would love to see you all get a real rescue going, I would offer any help I could. The point to my rant is to let you know there is more to it then you think.
But have to it, it would be good to see...
Also wanted to clear up any "speculation" about our web site.
In the mean time we'll do what we can, how we can.
Jerry - The BoerBoel Network
