Lots of breeders inflate the cost thinking that will cull the potential bad buyers due to cost and only allow those that will do right by the dog. It's just as easy for a person with plenty of money and resources to leave a dog in a 10x10 or in general do right by the dog as it is for someone who maybe doesn't have equal resources.

My point with the email was really this: If you aren't willing to answer basic questions about your program and do it with pride. Your most likely trying to make a buck off a dog.

I contacted a local breeder of Cane Corso's here and the lady told me all her dogs were working dogs. I thought "great!" ( I never once inquired as to the cost) Then I began to ask her basic questions as seen in my email. She answered them and invited me to her facility. Then came the crash. I began to probe further and inquired about the dogs prey drive. There was a long silence then she said "well im not sure what you mean". I knew right then she wasn't working her dogs and instead was breeding for the show ring. Her primary focus was on beauty, confirmation, correctness as far as the "breed standard". Im not putting her down. Im sure her dogs led a happy, healthy life. But they were not working dogs as she had almost led me to believe.
