I also noted that several pups were not able to compete successfully for food presented in this manner. It is fanciful to believe that the entirety of a dog’s behaviors mirrors that of a wolf because they are in the same biological family, and therefore for a more balanced dog we should try to emulate those supposed behaviors. The reason dogs don’t react in the same sophisticated manner as the wolf is simple, we have not selected for those behaviors.
