I have sleep paralysis. It can be terrifying and frequently is. I've found that recognizing it for what it is helps. You will swear you hear doors slamming, people talking, fingers and hands touching you. They're is nothing supernatural going on. Your mind just refuses to shut off and you wind up in this twilight state that can seem very real. I've found that it's very much like anything else that scares you. Once you've lost your fear of it, it goes away. Also, I really believe that the condition is custom tailored to the sufferer. If you believe it's ghosts or demons, it will be. If you think it's aliens, it is. Unfortunately I haven't had any success conditioning myself to believe that it's the female cast of baywatch.
Just kidding.
