Greetings...
I have been coming to this site for some time and I have to start off by ststing that it is great. I have never had a ghostly experience but the subject has always enthralled me.
That being said I was wondering if anyone knew of some good ghost tours to attend in the Philadelphia area. My friends and I are planning on checking a few out this weekend and I just want to make the right choice. Any help would be great. Thanks!

I just saw your website for the first time and was reading about the "ectoplasm" in pictures, the cone-like shape that has a translucent color to it. I had several "strange" expreinces while vacationing in South Carolina this summer, and was a little disturbed by something I "thought" I saw (actaully my fiance, saw it also). When I read the description of the ectoplam in pictures, that's exactly what I saw with the naked eye! Is this possible?

Looking at your pictures I have the same lines on mine. The ones that go straight across the pictures. I thought the photo lab screwed up. I would like to know if flies have a meaning? Years ago there were about 200 in my entry way and no where else in the house. They would have had to of gotten in my living room window but none any where else but the entry.I had to leave for work and when I got home there was no one fly in the house. I found out latter I was pregnant. We have had the worst luck ever. That was years ago and im in a new place now and have seen shadows, orb, smells. I also move in a house with a sperit in it but it left befor I did. I seems no matter what I do to protect my child it goes wrong. Help

Ok i am probably some queer freak, but for some reason its like i can feel their presence and i know this sounds stupid, but if its late at night i feel like they want me to talk or something and it will be like 2 in the morning and i will just talk about absolutly nothing in particular, and go on and on for a an hour or something like that, i know its wierd but i always say "night guys" before i go to bed because i feel that they are like there and want me to say goodnight, and a couple times i have forgotten and each time something startled me, one time for instance i heard something fall off my dresser, i couldnt see anything so i got scared but then i remembered to say goodnight, and instantly my fear left me..is this something that could really happen or and i just a phsyco who needs help? e mail me or yeah, thanks alot, Maggie.

Is it possible for my grandmother who passed away 15 1/2 years ago to show up in a picture that was taken only 1 week ago and show up as clearly as another living person in a photo taken of a freind of our cousin's alone,is a photo like this real or false?

I'm curious if having a ghost or a spirit in my home would have to consist of sightings. Could our home be haunted if we've only heard strange sounds? I know some houses have their own sounds, but I heard a drilling sound coming from our bathroom one day, and the next evening, my boyfriend heard it too. It's not just a creaky floor, or a rattling window. I also get a really creepy feeling when I go downstairs in the basement. Not an eerie feeling, but a frightening, wicked death kind of feeling. Can any of this be explained? How would I find out if anyone had died in the home prior to our moving in?
It's an old Victorian Home in a quaint town near Reading, PA. Can anyone help? Thanks!!

It would be nice for the producers to first come on and say hey we are going along with family and will not do anything to interfare with the show. I mean the people just go in there and it seems to me that the staff or camera men could be messing with them. How do we know it's real, granted we know the places they go to are real and have a lot of history but I think it's fake when the familys go in there. I watched last night the family that went to Italy on that Island Poveglia, c'mon! That little girl got on my nerves so much I had to turn it "mommy mommy!!!" ughhh. I just think the people who write it need to be more forth coming even if it's fake and tell the viewers that this is not a stagged event and no one will be trying to scare the familys but it will be based and flimmed on what really does go on in a haunted places. JMO

Hello, I have been interested in ghosts since childhood and believe I have an ability to sense paranormal activity around me when it's there. I recently went out with a few friends to try and find ghosts at what is thought to be the most haunted cemetary in CT. (Union Cemetary) I brought along only my strapless digital camera and a flashlight so as not to step on any headstones. I have quite a few photos of what I believe are signs of activity in orbs. I have taken a big intrest in this place after seeing it on fear. and hearing stories about the place on the Y100. morning show. so I did some recerch on the place and found out that they give tours so i went. The place is very creepy and there are what seam to be temp changes going on in this place. also it feels that there is something or someone there. my brother has become a member and i plan on doing it soon. my brother is a photo guy and took some great photos. one of them appers to have an orb in it.
so what i am wantting to know is has any one eles have pics or recordings from eastern state that they would like to share with me.

Could anyone tell me if there is a listing of ghost hunting groups/societies around the country? I live on Florida's Atlantic coast, about 30 miles south of Cocoa Beach. I'd like to look up any local ghost hunter societies but don't know where to find this information. I am not looking for an investigation; rather, I would be interested in finding out how to get involved in ghost hunting and if any groups near me are looking for help or volunteers. Any ideas?

There would always be strange things going on, like footsteps upstairs when no one was there, the tv. going on and off by itself, it was all strange. My aunt was asleep and there was violent banging on her door, when she looked there wasnt a person in sight. I've been sifting through this message board for a little while, and have found some things of distinct interest. However...not all of the "action" occurs in Philadelphia. I'm a long-time resident of rural Nevada, myself, and out here we have our fair share of ghost stories. We even have ghost "towns", but they're not what you think. We use the term "ghost town" for any remnant of a late 1800's or early 1900's settlement that is no longer occupied and has since been deserted. There are -many- such places all throughout Nevada and Utah, and some of them even have thier share of ghost stories and encounters. But, I'll leave off on the rural tales for one moment to go straight into the heart of Salt Lake City, Utah, and tell you guys about a few well-known haunted establishments. I'll start first with the old Rio Grande Railway station. In the 1800's, the Station was used just as any other railway station was used back in those days. It was the center of travel, a hub for tourists and travellers alike who came and went on a daily basis. One story surrounding the Station is of a young girl who was jilted by her lover. The man tore the ring she had given him from his finger and threw it out onto the tracks. The girl, blinded by the pain of her broken heart, dove out onto the tracs to retrieve it....straight into the path of an oncoming train. She had no time to react, and no time to get out of the way, and was struck down. Some people have said that they have seen her ghost roaming the halls of the old Station.
Another place that is reported to be haunted is the Utah State Capitol building itself. Now, I'm only an amateur paranormal enthusiast, but I'm fairly certain that with a little research you guys could pull up some info on the place. I think maybe you could point your browsers to the homepage of the Utah Ghost-Hunter's Society. They have done a lot of investigations into places I have personally been to, such as the Murray City Cemetary, which is a place where a lot of EVP recordings have been taken. I also think that the UGHS members and some of their recordings were featured in a show about the paranormal on the Discovery channel.
Another place that's reported to be haunted in Utah is The Capitol Theatre. There's a lot of stories about the place, and one of them concerns a fire that occured there, in which an usher for the theatre was killed. Much of the unexplained phenomena that occurs there has been attributed to the spirit of the usher, who seems to haunt only one particular place in the theatre: The hallway beneath the stage, where the fire occured. Anyhow, that's enough of me rattling on like I am. I have many more stories to share and a little bit of info here and there. If any of you are interested, please drop me an email or two. This is pretty corney, But I own the movie (Three Men and A Baby). In the scene where Ted Danson is trying to convince his mother to take the baby off of his hands, they walk through a room with a big picture window. It's daylight and there, standing halfway behind one of the sheers, is a clear immage of a young boy. He even follows the camera as it passes by. Who is he?!
I have heard a few stories but none make any sense. So if anyone has anyinformation on this, pleas let me know.

Hello. I have upcoming plans to visit a Civil War battlefield and I am already starting to feel strange about it. I visited the same battlefield about a year ago and, although I had very little knowledge about the area, I felt a significant pull.
When I returned home I began doing some research on the batte fought there and I started researching a particular soldier. Over the past year I have (surprisingly) massed an incredible amount of info on the otherwise forgotten officer, often in unexpected ways.
In any case, now that I plan on visiting the field (where, incidentally, my soldier was shot down in battle), I have this feeling like he is expecting me.
Does this sound crazy or what? :) I don't know whether it is my own excitement about going back to the field, or whether my true feelings are merited. Can anyone define a similar instance? Is it possible for ghosts to know you want to or that you plan on approaching them, even if you are traveling from across the country? Are there any tricks to being "well-received"? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I'v had my last encounters of a spirit I belive to be of an animal. Late at night about three times a week it changed all the time, I would get into bed last of course being a mother i'm last to bed. My husband asleep next to me in bed, I would lay down and about five minutes later or 20min between my legs i would get startled every time the bed would barley shake and the blanket would cave in between my ankles it was so weired. It was like something just plopped onto the bed it would irritate me so much. I would kick the blanket as if throwing something off the bed. some times it would stay heavy on my ankles or it would go away. you could see the indentation as if something was there. I would ask my husband if he would ever feel it he said no. So finally I asked my landlord who previousley lived in the house,If somebody had passed away. She said "no why?" then I asked if an amimal had died there, She said "Oh yeah I had a dog that was very i'll so I took him to the vet one day and on our way he died" Well now that I moved into another house I never had that feeling anymore. I think the poor dogs spirit is still there.

I live in a bi-level condo in greater Northeast Philadelphia near Franklin Mills Mall. The condo is no more than 40 years old (I believe they were built in the 60's). My dilemma is in identifying a freighteningly loud smacking noise I hear in one of my upstairs bedrooms. The noise wakes me out of a deep sleep regularly and sometimes repeats itself in succession up to 4 times. It sounds almost like a limb breaking, or like when you slap your hands together real hard. Occasionally, it will happen while i'm reading - often startling me. As many snaps, or smacks, has occured, I would think that - if it were due to the foundation settling, the foundation would have fallen by now! But, I can't rule that out because I dont know a thing about construction. Does this sound like a haunting? Maybe its the wood of the house thats splitting? I recently heard on the y100 morning show that other people see shadow people. I was talking with my friend Chris about it, and we both see not only shadow people, but shadow ANIMALS.
For instance:
Sometimes at night, I see,(or at least think I see) animals run across the street. I step on the brake only to realize there is nothing there.
Also, my family lives in the country, so there are a lot of deer and opossums around. I have very frequently seen shadow deer running across the road, so i slam on the brakes only to realize once again that there is nothing there. I think i see opossums, rabbits, and groundhogs too.
Chris says he thinks he sees flies, gnats, and other insects as well. Is it possible to see the ghosts of animals and people?
Just wondering if anyone else sees things like that.

Hi there
I'm from England and have just watched the episode of scariest places on earth where the family go to the island of poveglia. I was really interested to find out about the island for two main reasons. Firstly i think the whole thing is a set-up, the ginger guy, alan robson, on the beginning of the programme, is from the north east of england where i come from, and nobody takes him seriously. How he is an expert on paranormal activity all of a sudden is beyond me?? In England he is currently on an advert for upvc windows so he is hardly a serious journalist/historian is he???!! The guy is a bit of a prat so it is hard to take him serious!! I think he takes himself a little too seriously.
Secondly if all that about the island is true then it sounds like a real scary place, and undoubtly haunted. The curious thing is that i found that it is real hard to find info on poveglia. All the official touristy sites say it is unvisitable and hardly anywhere actually mentions the island at all. Bizarre!! However i did find that there are rumours that an educational centre is going to be built on there!! How scary is that thought.
Anyway there you have the mad rantings of an englishwoman. Please don't take alan robson seriously, the guy is a joke!!!

But one death in perticular stays in my mind, when i was about 7 years old my best friend killed himself in the house next door. this is in a rowhouse mind you but when i was home i would hear somone quickly running from room to room slamming doors , so one day i screamed out and shouted with all my heart to tell whatever it was to go away . It stoped but still i dont know why whenever i speak of the dead or go somewhere where somone has died violently i start to cry and i just dont know why a feeling i cant understand overcomes me does anyone know what this may be?

A week and a half after my beloved grandmothers death, I took my four year and six years old sons to her house. My four year old said "Let's go knock on the door and see if grandmama is here" and as we walked up the sidewalk to her front door a little whirling wind swept a circle of swirling leaves right across the steps in front of us and in a straight line for a little while till it vanished around the corner of the house. There was no other wind blowing at the time. I feel strongly that she was contacting us. Has anyone had a similar experience with wind and a recently deceased loved one?

We think that the show is very good, but when everyone starts to scream it gets kinda annoying and expecialy when they are screaming about something that the viewers on tv never even saw and it is not explained what had happend. We also think that there should be some episodes in Canada. Another thing is that we think the author Allen Robson does an awsome job on scarying the people before they even go in the haunted place by telling frighting history about the place. We have seen many episoded os scariest places on earth and our favorite one is Chillingham Castle. We just wanted to say is that this show will no longer make you a sceptic

I would just like to congratulate you all on what is a very informative and interesting web-site. I live in Swansea,Wales,UK. where there is an abundance of places where paranormal activities have been reported. Mainly due to of long Heritage and history. Has anyone ever felt a strange uneasy presence in Bucks County? I’ve been a native of Lower Bucks County for over ten years now, and I’ve noticed some unusual things about this part of the county. In particular night in Northampton, Newtown, and Ivyland townships seems to be longer and darker than other places. It seems like no matter where you go in those and surrounding townships you’re constantly watched? I know of a few haunting in the area, but has anyone else noticed this? Any stories or theories as to why it is like this?

i was dating a guy . he said that he had { im not sure of the right way to put this but } ghost that every once in awhile would follow him around .. i didnt really at that time have alot of belief in ghosts . { not that i didnt think they were real but really never had any experiences w them personally} anyway, he moved in with me , and not long after that . things started to happen mostly when we would be in bed sleeping ..like there would be noises in the room or talking that i had never heard before , and i always had this feeling that there was someone standing over me when i slept that. due to the fact that i was a new mother and that i had never dealt w anything like this before would get up and go downstairs to sleep w the baby .. i got used to these little things after awhile ... however one week end he went away on a buisness trip . at 2:00 am in the morning i was awaked to the sound of someone laughing it was as if they were standin right next to the bed and as clear as day ... needless to say that i wasnt gonna bring this up to him .. but he was tellin me about what happened over his weekend and he happened to mention that he was having a confrontation w this being and that at about 2:00am . the being started laughing at him .. i was oh no i heard him laughing also it was just very werid ... needless to say now that im very interested in ghost and the after life he and i are no longer to together .... thank you for letting me share my story

Well, i've been looking at some of these pictures and they kind of look like the pictures i have at my house. My mom and i are into all that ghost and freaky stuff since forever! And my mom came to me one day and said that it looked like i had got some ghosts in my pictures.i really didn't know what to look for but some of them are like mine. The whole smokey look and little circle things. I really wonder if i did get some ghosts in pictures? Its pretty cool to think about. I've had some crazy incounters myself. But i just think its all really neat. And ghosts really are real! People tell me im weird but i really dont care.

Hello! I just made reservations for the Inn at Jim Thorpe on the Ghost Hunters weekend. I'm so excited! I am very interested in starting serious paranormal investigations. So far all I've experienced is some orbs in pictures and one mist on a video.
Anyway, I was just wondering what happens with that weekend? Do I need to sign up for anything? Is it ok for me to bring my own equipment (cameras, video camera, etc.)?

I have a friend who told me a odd story about something that happened to him about a week ago. Here's the story:
He was lying down in bed and he felt that there was a horrible presence all around him. He turned and he saw a hooded figure, no face, all black, with him boney stretched out hand over his body, mumbling some foreign language. He was paralyzed, and he had no way of getting up out of bed, so he pretended to fall back asleep. The apparation disappeared after awhile, and he drifted back asleep.
What could this apparation be, or what could it mean?

Among other things occuring late last September, the most disconcerting event was what can best be described as a ghostlike stingray, about 18 inches wide and 24 inches long, red in color with white ruffles towards the front that flew into our open door, over our kitchen table and disappeared. My wife saw this from a standing position as a sideways view while I saw it from underneath as I sat at the table.
It seemed to trail things, like torn or shredded clothes but both my wife and I agreed it mimicked the flowing motions and shape of a swimming stingray.
This defies description and I wondered if anyone could shed light on what this is. Any help or guidance on this is appreciated. Thanks. -- Dave

For 10 months I've been living in a row home along the Brandywine River in Modena, Pennsylvania close to Lancaster(it's an older house, but don't know how old). From the first time we moved in I had this cold, creepy feeling especially downstairs in this two-story-row-home. A few times I fell asleep on the couch while watching tv and each time I woke up either completely freaked out and scared or had bad nightmares. If I sleep upstairs in the bedroom I never have any problems. I do hear suddle noises and allthough the noises seem to be close by directly in livingroom or kitchen, I dismissed it for a long time thinking it came from the neighbors house. There is a permanent stench in this house and even though I leave windows and doors open and cleaned from top to bottom, I could not get rid of it. I can't really decribe the smell, I usually compare it to the smell like in a crypt (moldy stench). I haven't felt very good mentally and healthwise and I'm starting to really wonder if this has to do with paranormal activity. Something like this never really happened to me before. I forgot to mention I also have sometimes extreme fear and anxiety. Can anyone help??
I feel harmed in a way.

When you are investigating, how do you control your fear? I mean, aren't you scared at times? Does it ever interfere with your ability to objectively investigate. I was at your Fort Mifflin seminar (by the way, it was awesome!!!)I felt that I could have had a much better experience if I wasn't so scared!! And I could see how fear may cause you to misinterpret what you see, hear or feel. I am very interested in ghost hunting, but I can see my fear stopping me, and I don't want it to.

In stillwater minnesota there is a old abondoned prison from like 1850 or so and i found away in. me and my friends explored the hole thing it is freaky. there are dead birds everyware riped apart. we found one hanging from a string attached to the cealing. we saw a old bed with a scary stuffed animal on it. we also saw tuns of bird shit. but at one point walking up the steps we heard what sounded like 1,000 pigions making there weird littel noises but we looked every ware and saw no birds. it sounded like 1,000 pigioens but kinda ghostly. then all the sudden it stoped like a minute later. all i know is i wana take some pics of the place and video cam,era it. all i was wondering is can ghosts hurt u cuz i can gaurantee u that tuns of insane lunatics have died there. at one pont we felt the ground shaking. please e mail me or reply.

I live in a home built 2 years ago. Since we moved in, we've seen strange things in the corner of our eyes along with shadowy figures. We just assumed that it was our imaginations. A couple of nights ago, we were watching TV and saw the bathroom light (which is wired to a motion sensor switch) come on. I thought that one of our cats activated it. I found nothing in the bathroom, so I assumed the switch was just malfunctioning (although this has never happened before). I went upstairs and returned about a minute later. As I was heading downstairs, I heard the bathroom exhaust fan come on (which is wired to a standard wall switch). No one was anywhere near the bathroom when this occurred. I went in the bathroom and found the switch in the ON position. It seems as though a spirit was aware that we were doubting our senses and decided to prove a point by activating both the light and the fan. At any rate, I'm not scared but I'm having a difficult time feeling comfortable in my house. There are no negative feelings associated with this spirit. What should we do????????

I'm convinced that my family and I share our house with at least one other spirit. I have photos with orbs and vortices, we've all heard voices and seen things that can't be explained, and I personally have had at least one strange encounter that can't be explained with logic. I'm not really afraid as much as I am curious to find out more about who lives with us. Does anyone know how I can come in contact with these spirits? I'm really interested to know, and I'll do whatever it takes without having to spend money to hire professionals. Last Night around 11:30 I experienced the weirdest thing as I was driving down the road to drop my friend off at his house. Bradford Road located in Chesterbrook, PA (Right next to Valley Forge) I turned a slight corner and turned my brights on to see a small cloud in the right lane of the road. It wasn't mist and it wasn't smoke. I could see some detail off as I drove right through it, it looked sort of like transparent slowly moving fingers. Sort of like the pictures that are seen in some of these photos. It wasn't viewable until I turned my brights on, is the other strange thing. What ever it was I can't even describe it correctly just surprised as hell to see something like it in the middle of a road.

I've been to the Eastern State Penitentiary twice. On both occasions I was part of a group of people who raise Seeing Eye puppies. When I was walking my dogs I felt absolutely indifferent about my surroundings. I was expecting to feel on edge because of the stories about this place but I sensed nothing.
At one point I had to climb over a pile of wood and rocks and I gave my German Shepherd's leash to someone else to hold. As soon as I let go of the leash I felt very cold. I thought it was just a draft and proceeded to step over the rocks and I suddenly felt as though something was pushing me from behind and I heard my dog growl. I put my hand on the wall next to me to hold myself up but the rough stone wall felt like ice and just as slippery. I started falling forward and at that instant my dog ran in front of me and I fell on top of her.
As soon as I came in contact with her everything was back to normal. I no longer felt cold. I used the wall to help pick myself up and it was not at all slippery. My dog was staring off in front of us, the hair on her back was up and she kept growling. It seemed like a wind was going down the corridor, then a whooshing noise came as it got to the end, went around a corner and was gone. When the noise was gone my dog looked at me and became her happy self again.
Does the presence of dogs have an affect on hauntings? Do would-be haunter-ers fear them and stay away from them and people who are with them? I'd really like to know if anyone else has had an experience like this. Thanks for reading!

This is my first time visiting this site. Thank godness I visited this site because I thought the photo development place messed up my pictures. I have seen the pictures on this site. When I viewed these pictures, I saw a few orbs on some of the pictures. The pictures I have taken have over 30 orbs in one picture. Does anyone know what that means? I know for sure that there are two ghost on this property because they showed up on film...in color and wearing old clothing and hats. I only seem to capture a picture of the ghosts when I take pictures from outside and of windows on that property. Other than that I the pictures show all these orbs on the inside of the property. Does the orbs mean that there can be more that the two ghost that we have captured on film?

I've seen shadows passing through the dining room, one in the bathroom doorway, and one pass through the kitchen. I've seen flashes of light whiz pass my head when I walk into the laundry room. My husband's seen a shadow in the spare bedroom and even thought he heard someone calling his name at 4:30am when he leaves for work. As we walk up the steps to the second floor an eerie, creepy, hair-raising chill comes over us and we feel like someone is following behind us. My brother-in-law felt it, but never mentioned it until about 6 months ago.
Nothing flies across the rooms, nothing mysteriously changes locations, there are no noises at all. Just the feeling that there's someone else in the house.
Our house is 140 years old, so I'm sure there's a bit of history here.
It's not as if something is after us or inflicts any harm to us or visitors. I'm open to the exhistence of spirits, but I'm not sure I want one (or more) in my house.
Anyone else had an experience like this? Is there any way I can research the house to find out if someone died here? Any info is appreciated.

I just got back from a trip to Gettysburg where I took zillions of pictures and had a grand old time ;) (I love that place) I haven't gotten my pictures back, but I'm really curious about what might show up on the film. Has anyone heard of the green ghost? I think it may be in the new hope area. My sister seems to be a ghost magnet and though we joke about it she hates it! Some friends of ours took her to a place to see the green ghost and she did. It looks like a green mist or fog close to the ground that comes towards you. The closer it gets it looks more like foot steps. We went out to try to find the place and got lost.
I love this board, I'm so excitd to have come apon it. I lived in a haunted house for a year in Bristol. Grew up in Croydon, also anyone know anything about the woods behind Mary Devine School they reach to River Rd. Another sister and her friend saw a women dressed in black floating towards them one night. Totally freaked them out! I now live close to Byberry on the other side of the Blvd.
I've has a few strange things happen here. Nothing to werid my bed shook the other night, I thought it was just my dog but he wasn't in the room. My Grandmom died in May so it could just be her saying Hi but the man who lived here before us has a heart attack and died here to.
Oh and I had always heard stuff about Bolton Mansion. Thought they were just stories till now! Even took my older children there for egg hunts near Easter when they were little.
Any info on hauntings in the far Northeast, or esp Croydon would be great! Thanks,

For as long as I can remember, without fail, whenever I hear anyone talk about experiences that they've had with the supernatural, I have had a strange physical reaction... First I get full body chills and then my eyes start to tear up to the point that tears roll down my face. I thought that this was just something weird that happened to only me, had never really thought too much about it. I am a passive believer in ghosts, I am more so fascinated by them than frightened by them. This morning on Y100, I heard them read an email from a man who said that this very same thing happens to him. He claimed that he had spoken to someone who about it and they said that it is called "weeping" and it happens to people with a heightened sensitivity to the supernatural. Does anyone else know anything about this phenomenon?

Hi i was just wandering if anyone could tell me if my house is haunted. My mum died 5 year ago about 8 month later strange things started happening, my fire alarm started going off at 3 in the morning, this happened 3 times night after night even though we had changed the alarm system. My cd was thrown in to the middle of the room because me and my brother were arguing over it. I have also had dreams about my mum being the ghost in the house...other things have happened too. Any ideas?

Has anyone ever come across an instance where an evp of past "sounds" has been recorded. In other words, I'm getting recordings of people walking and dropping metallic objects on a plank floor. The room is currently carpeted and no matter how many times I've tried to recreate the sounds, I get what I believe to be a current sound. The floor was originally plank but that was over sixty years ago. The haunting itself is textbook residual. Full apparitions and even the name of the ghost is known. I believe the cause of the haunting is an event that took place in 1933. This would explain the sounds being on a plank floor. I just cant figure out how these sounds can be actually recorded. I think my house ay have a ghost problem. I have seen streaks of light in my house before, and my mom has experienced the closing and opening of doors by themselves previously. I hadn't thought much of either of these occurences until one night my mom was taking a shower and it had steamed up the bathroom window. Next thing I know she is telling me that what i did wasn't funny and to come clean the bathroom mirror off. When i entered the bathroom, "help me" was written on the bathroom mirror and my mom swears to god that she didn't do it. So if anybody has any information they could give me on how to tell if my house is really haunted or how to contact whoever this spirit is or whatever it is please e-mail me or respond to the message board...thank you

An unfortunate homeowner built his house on a heavily used ghost marching path of the Hawaiian nightmarchers. Nightmarchers are anchient Hawaiian spirits that march on trails as if they were still alive, ending thier trek by jumping off a mountain or walking into the sea. The homeowners family had to flee their new home due to something or somethings throwing stuff at them, tossing furniture around, and being beaten by invisible people. Three Kahunas, Hawaiian priest, tried to rid the family of these uninvited guests but all said to move because they can't do anything about it. They sold it to unknowing families and they also experienced the same problem. According to my information, he realitor is haveing a hard time selling the place due to it's ...guests. According to Richard Wiseman, geological phynominons can cause an magnetic/electrical field which can make the supernatural more apparent. The area or island is sitting on an active volcano so if his theory is true then the collection of evedence will be bountiful. I was wondering how to take a picture of the glowing orbs? I have alot places around my home town (Parkersburg, WV) that are believed to be haunted. What kind of equipment do you need? The biggest place with the most action, is place called Dead Man's Hallow, the place is very overgrown with bursh and overgrowth, the roots of trees grow above ground, which might sound normal, but as soon as you step out of the hallow the roots are underground. Hi...I live on an old either indian buriel site or a hut site. In our yard we have stone mounds called cairns. Has anyone seen these before or know of other places with these stone mounds??? I also have rock walls that run north & south and east and west. I believe that these may have been a sort of road for native americans to get through the forest.

I've recently stumbled on this site and I love it. The house I live in dates to the 1870s and there is a lot of activity that happens. After living here my whole life I have found it not at all disturbing, in fact it has peaked my interest in this subject. Hence the questions: The house is slowly being restored to its original grandeur and the one room almost complete is the main dining room at the base of the steps (where the majority of the activity takes place). I wake for work very early and for several mornings I have heard what sounds like moaning and muffled voices coming from what sounds like the walls. Never have I heard this until that room was torn apart for its makeover. Are spirits apprehensive to changes in their 'home'? The other question: Are cats capable of seeing the spirit world? The reason I ask is that we have a Siamese and on numerous occasions it will sit on the stairs (again, the main area of activity) and the it will suddenly focus on something at the top of the stairs. Noone is up there. It hisses angrily and will bolt away from that area scared. Weird. Never does that anytime or anywhere else in the house...except the stairs. I could write for a couple hours on this house and the apparitions that everyone has seen (mostly children but they all report the same descriptions of 'the man with the long beard'. One last thing that maybe someone can explain to me. I had a run-in with my other deceased Siamese. One night I heard the distinct sounds of a cat walking into my room (the soft sounds of carpet being crushed under the paws) and it headed for the base of my bed (exactly like my cat always did). It paused at the base of my bed for a second when all of a sudden it jumped on the bed because my covers distinctively collapsed under the weight of the 'feline'. It proceeded to walk between my legs (pushing the covers down with each step) when I looked up only to find NOTHING there. Funny thing is, and I'm not kidding, that as soon as I got my new yellow lab, the 'ghost cat' stopped doing this. Now I know cats and dogs don't usually get a long but this is a real stretch. Sorry for the long post but I really could write for hours. I'm just craving info on this and I hope someone could help. Thanks a lot!

Hi, I posted a message the other day about my grandmothers house being haunted for the 30 years she has been there. My grandmother has 8children who are all now grown with kids of their own. My family, Aunts and Uncles have experianced when you first fall asleep at night something heavy on our body. Of course at diffrent times and only once in a great year. This is a reacurring incident. Onne time my Aunt was laying with my sister my aunt was 16 my sis 9 years and they were falling asleep, Well my sis was asleep And my aunt came screaming down the hall way, She said she saw my sis stomach suck in really far as if something was sitting on her. And When i was falling asleep one time spending the night at grandmas i was almost out it felt like a big hand punched me in my hip it did not move my breathing was faint i could not move finally a mumble came out my mom herd and woke up it the filing went away, horiffing. So I know this
sleep paralysis is ghost, only those who live in a house who experianced it know, It happened to my aunts and uncles.

Right now I am intrested in Bloody Mary. The Legend is you go to a mirror in the dark and say "Bloody Mary" three times and if you don't turn on the light and run away as fast as you can she is supposed to come out and scratch your face till you bleed to death. well were to begin When I started experiencing the paranormal. I was really young I don't remember how old exactly had to be about 12 when my house in Colorado was haunted. By prevous owner. then when we moved here to montana. I never thought anything thing werid would happen. My bed had to spirits of a dead woman who was beaten to death in her bed by her husband and I could not sleep in my bed or in the room. that same house was haunted my the old man who lived there before the pychic who came there said that she saw him standing by the tree, and that he didn't like the kids in the house. I have always believed but since weird things have happend to I just believe even more. I would like to contact some one on how to get more into my paranormal feelings meaning. When I walked into the old abandoned house next to mine, I could not go any further then the door my body and my heart would not let me and my friend go anything further. I have seen my step dad, ( whom is decest) and i have had really weird experences. such as I have heard a Banchie scream, and have had a dram about my guardian Angel. if you would like to know of these stories any further please email me.

In April of this year I went to Eastern State Penitentiary. My husband took pictures. In August of this year I went to New Orleans, we took pictures. I had all the film developed at one time. When I was looking at the pictures I saw orbs around me at Eastern State and at a Mansion in New Orleans.
My question is why would orbs follow me and know one else?
The pictures were taken with two different cameras.

I believe I live in a haunted house and I found out a couple of months ago that many of my neighbors are experiencing the same events.
I have never herd of this before, is this common? what could explain this.
The neighborhood is in southwestern ohio and is about 80 years old and has never been used as a graveyard.

I have a bit of a strange question here. Is there such thing as a ghost haunting a person who is more or less unrelated to the ghost itself? Here is a more specific instance: if a person goes into, or visits a notably "haunted" place, is it possible for them to come away with a so-called ghost (for lack of a better word) "attatched" to them? I know this sounds a bit silly, but I don't really know how to explain it. :)

I worked at a nursing home for several years, and I occasionally saw a black shadow of a man walking around,at times it seemed he wanted to be seen.I am not sure but I think this was a death angel.Workers also would see a woman in white & a priest ghost. These sitings were very rare. When the man in black was seen, residents would pass away usually in three's.

Trying to get some info here. There is a story about a cabin known as teh SHaumbacher place in a mountian in Philly where stories of murder and cannabalism go back to the 1700s. The mountian is possibly called Hoff or Hoft and is now a bird santuary. I have nothingn on this so please give me info on this place if you know it. My Grandfather died 2 years ago. He died in his bed at home. About 6 months to a year later the family moved my Grandmother out of the house, she was unable to take care of herself. So the house had remained unoccupied until January of this year, when my mom and son moved into the house. Now my mom, and son, and even my daughter have experienced some phenomena. My daughter called me last week and told me the TV in the bedroom that my Grand dad died in came on. She said she went in the room and turned it off, then a little while later she heard the TV on again so she went back in the room and turned off the TV but she said this time it was on another channel. My mom always hears his electric chair going off but this didn't start happening to the chair till she moved it into the bedroom that used to be his. My Grand dad use to always swing in a porch swing, and my mom said that the swing, swings back and forth real big as if someone was swinging in it. My mom has also had the TV come on by it's self when she is the only one home. My Cousin did tell me that when the house was vacant, he was in the back yard cutting some wood when he felt like someone was watching him, when he looked up towards the dining room window he got a glance of my Grand dad standing at the window watching him. Why would my Grand dad wait so long to start maikg his presence known? I've also encontered something strange in my new place also. Just about everynight shortly after I fall asleep I am awakened by the feeling of someone or something shaking me, kind of like when you shake someone on the shoulder to wake them, it really startles me. Then one morning real early I was kind od awake but trying to go back to sleep, when I heard someone behind me say "MOM" "MOM" in a whispering raspy type voice I thought it was my daughter trying to see if I was awake so I yelled out "What!!" and turned around but no one was there. I was almost too afraid to get up and look but I did. I went into my daughter's room but she was still sleeping. I don't like to fall asleep in a quiet room because I start to hear noises so I always fall asleep with the TV on and put the timer on it.

recently my Dad was has passed has been making his need to contact me known by various means. I have smelled his cigarette smoke (unique in life) at times when there is no one around me. I get phone calls with no one there. I have been exposed to an unusual amount of of media attention to the supernatural which is unusual. He has been on my mind night and day off and on, for several weeks now. As there was great turmoil in my family growing up I believe he wants to contact me. Can you help me?

I awoke this am to find an apparition of an ederly man ( none I have seen before) trying to take over my hsubands body. Just as this spirit was to finish laying down I yelled my husbands name and woke him up. The spirit then disappered not entirely but, just so, I could not see him anymore. I know that he was still in our bedroom and I right now still feel his presence in our home.I immediately asked my husband if he was okay and he said "yes" and asked why, of course being 5:30 in the morning on a weekend I just said "you don't want to know"
Can someone please tell me why a spirit would need to take over someone's body? Mind you he just laid back as if to recline. I wasn't scared of the ghost at all until after I saw what he was doing..
Also where can I find information on this type of thing? I have searched and all I have found so far are stories and studies, no actual site for me to find info on.

I understand that there is sometimes a drop of temperature that can be recorded on instruments when a manifestation of a ghost occurs. Does the temperature ever rise with certain ghosts? The reason I ask is because one ghost that lived in my childhood home. If you put your hand through where he stood you could feel heat. My father was a non-believer until I told him to feel the area where the spirit was occupying and he felt the temperature change also. He couldn't explain that one away. Why does the temperature drop? Are they drawing energy from the surrounding area?

My husband and I were walking up to Livermore and saw something that looked like a charcoal and transparent (I will call it a cloudlike/smokelike) form go from near a huge tree to a large rock. It moved very fast sort of rotating inside itself and seemed, to both of us, like it was caught off guard or by surprise. Has anyone ever investigated this area? Local folklore tells of spirits in the cemetery area. This area use to have a town nearby but was eliminated because of flood control. Any info will be appreciated. Joyce

I had an incident that happened way back when I was in high school that has always puzzled me. Some time during the day, my best friend Linda told me she was feeling sick and had called her mom to come bring her home, so she wouldn’t be riding the bus home with me. Later, after school had let out, I was standing in the parking lot waiting for the bus, and I, several feet away, a girl standing by a car talking to some boys. The girl looked EXACTLY like Linda, and was even wearing the same type of coat she had! I was very surprised, because she’d told me she was going home, and she had no reason to lie to me. Plus, if she’d lied about being sick in order to get out of school (which Linda would never had done), why the heck would she have come back to the school to hang out? Even though I was curious, I never got a chance to go over and see who this girl was, because the bus came at that moment.
Later that evening, I went to the school dance. Linda had originally been going to come too, but since she was home sick I went to the dance alone. As I was standing in line waiting to get in the door, I saw, about 10 to 15 feet ahead of me, this same girl who looked just like Linda! Wearing that same coat! Once I got inside the school I looked all around for her, but she was nowhere to be seen. The next time I saw Linda, I told her about it, and she assured me that she had indeed been home sick all afternoon, and that if she’d felt well enough to go to the dance that evening, she’d have called me. We never did figure that one out, and I never saw this “Linda look-alike” again.
I’ve heard stories of something called a “doppelganger” (sp?), an apparation (?) who looks just like someone. Perhaps this was what I’d seen? Has anyone else ever had an experience like this?

Does anyone know of any explanations for orbs besides paranormal activity? With a pregnancy in the house we seem to be catching a ton of orbs on the digital camera. The person who is pregnant seems to be able to capture many more orbs when she takes the pictures (she also seems to be attracting a lot of "attention" other places we go). Thanks for any help!

I have seen alot of reports about Ghostly Phenomena but have heard little or nothing about "Phone Calls From the Dead" ? My Business partner and I experienced this several years ago and I get the Chills everytime I think of it!
We played back a message on our 800 # on a Saturday morning which was left on Friday, the day before. The Gentleman stated his name (First, Middle and Last) and the purpose of his call. He said he wanted to "speak to a sales representative" and then left his phone number...he then added the area code and said we could "call him any time...any time at all". I played the message and my partner wrote down his number, etc. We both heard the voice which was as clear as a bell! We thought this was an odd call because of the area code. We were in N.J. at the time and his call was from a Southern State. We had done NO advertising at that time, especially in the Southern part of the country. My partner made the call immediately. A woman answered and he asked to speak to this Gentleman. I was only in the room, not on the line. My partner suddenly became upset and apologetic. I thought we had a wrong number ? But then my partner asked if she had a son by that name?
I assumed the response was NO. He suddenly turned white and I'm thinking why is he getting so upset and apologetic over a wrong number. He apologized several more times and hung up. When I asked why he was so upset over a wrong number, he explained. The woman said that this person WAS her husband and that he died several years ago. They had NO son with the same name !!! I suggested that she was an elderly, senile old woman who was confsed. He said she sounded young, alert and very rational! And was clear about what she said. One would imagine a "ghostly voice" to be faint and distant and weak. This gentleman's voice was particularly bright, crisp and clear. He gave the correct number...this WAS his number !!! We were both tempted to follow through and call this woman again, but never did. It was too awkward a situation. I'm only sorry that I did erase the message right after my partner wrote down the name and number. But it is odd that I can still hear his Crisp, Clear voice to this day...just as if I just played it back. Out of amazement, I wrote down this info on a file card and saved it. I also dated the call and the content. I haven't seen it for a few years but I know I still have it. By the way, my partner died the following year. He was a very sensitive guy and I always said he was psychic. Just prior to his death, there were several other strange occurances that were very bizarre. I'm wondering if this "Phone Call From the Dead" was a message, a prediction of his own passing ? I still get the Chills every time I think about this !!!

Has anyone ever seen diamond shaped "orbs"? I took some pictures at an old country cemetary in lower Delaware and I got lots of orbs and a few diamond shaped anomalies. It wasn't lens flare because it was dark out and the cemetary has no lights and is enclosed in the woods except for an entrance. I was facing the woods when I took the shot. Can anyone help me?

I have found a strange arrangement of pillows put
in a row on the floor of a third floor bedroom. These pillows are used for decoration also on a window seat.
The pillows a small in size.
The strange thing is I found them in this order from the wall to the bed. Heart shaped pillow and diamond shaped
pillow and then a square pillow all in a straight line from the wall to the bed. Does this mean anything?
Another thing I have found the bed layed in but no one has been in that room for a week.
The bedroom used to be a attic area on the third floor and the house goes back to the 1700's.

I stumbled upon your site quite by accident and was fascinated by the information on orb phenomena. BECAUSE, my husband and I took a photo of a hotel room in Paris in 1998 and were surprised to find a light orb in the photo. We could find no source and neither of us have ever seen such a thing in any other photos we have EVER taken. The hotel was in a building dating back 300 years or so and we were not disturbed by any other ghostly phenomenon. Unfortunately, I do not have a photo scanner to share the photo with you.

Just wanted to share a story with everyone. My senior year in college I knew a girl who went to Gettysburg with her boyfriend over break to see the sites there. When she returned she said she had a ghost in one of her pictures, I thought she was joking, but she was not the type. I, being a history major, with interest in the civil war passingly said to her that she should show me the picture, probably a smudge on the camara lense I thought. However, the next day she produced a stunning photo. It was taken by her boyfriend, it was of her standing on a rock (with several rocks behind her leading up the slope of a hill in the background). But what unique about this photo was a young boy, in a union uniform (standard blue cap, short blue top and lighter blue pants) jumping from on rock to another (he had blond hair and was not carrying any gear/equipment), almost right next to her! She said neither she nor her boyfriend saw anything at the time and on the photo it looked like he was as real as her. This really blew me away. Anyone else see this boy and in what area.

A coworker and I took pictures in the Bristol Cemetery at night and I sent you a picture of what looked like a vortex about (2) summers ago where soldiers are buried and one of the American flags in the picture looked like it waved in the air from the vortex. You replied the picture looked very interesting. My coworker and I decided to go back and my coworker asked if I would mind if a psychic (from Cherry Hill) could come with us. The thought of a psychic made it more exciting and is considered blind for a drivers license, but claims because of her disability she is capable of seeing energy lights. She said she sees a man standing by her bed smiling at her in her bedroom when she wakes up in the morning. She told us she puts the covers over her head so she doesn't have to look at him and tells him to go away and to leave her alone.
We met at the Bristol Pike Bowling Alley and walked through St. Marks Cemetery to the old section of the Bristol Cemetery. As we are walking, she tells us what she sees and I was feeling scared, but excited. We came to a section where there is an old tree and the psychic stopped dead in her tracks and told us there was something there that was bad and she had to head back. My coworker and I kept walking thinking the psychic was standing there waiting for us. As we were walking, all of a sudden my coworker said to me "Oh my god, do you see it"? It was a bright light hovering above a tombstone and we both felt heavy in the chest stairing at it feeling paralyzed. I had the camera in my hand, but I was to scared to take a picture and we crabbed each others arms and ran as fast as we could. We ran out of the cemetery at 10:00 pm. I felt like I was in a horror film. We still talk about the light.
Question: Have you ever seen an orb without any equipment?

I have just been listening to the morning news on our local channel and noticed that they have mentioned a walking ghost tour of downtown Lancaster for Thursdays thru Sundays. I just recently have been told I have "the Gift". I just haven't developed it yet. I have always felt things since I was about 10. By things I mean Spirits. I guess I just chose to ignore it. Recently, I went on the Ghost Tour at Old Fort Mifflin. I felt a very strong presence in the Casement #5. So strong that it touched my hair and pinched my leg. I could see a shadow (my friends could too) Then it touched my hand. I was frozen. I felt like such and invasion into my space I had to keep turning my head. It was in my face. I told my husband, who did not go on the tour, and he just rolled his eyes up in his head. It took a day and half for the red mark on my leg to go away. I am interested by scared all at the same time. Am I crazy. Does this gift really exist. If anyone has had the same experience I would love to hear yours.

Me and my mother and Son went to a Cemetary we visit often.
Things have been getting interresting. Last night at the cemetary we visited a wall where they keep ashes of people with name plates, and we noticed a smell a strong odor like something dead, the odor would come and go as we walked arround the wall looking at names. When I started feeling very sick and faint I became very dizzy, I did not want to tell my mother and son it might scare them. After that I noticed I could not stand it much longer the feeling. When my son out of the blue says his stomache is very upset and did not feel good then my mother said the same Dizzy nausia.
Does anyone know what might have happened or if anything was happening? I belive something with a spirit was happening, not anything bad. Has anyone ever experiance this before?

The most common question I get when I tell someone I am a paranormal researcher is,"Don’t you ever get scared when you go into a dark cemetary?" When I go out on an investigation I always try to keep a clear and rational head. I keep thinking to myself that theres nothing here that will do me any harm. That’s not to say I don’t get nervous or feel uneasy at times. And I’ve always said that its not the dead you have to be afraid of,it’s the ones alive that you have to watch out for. And that is so true. Last Saturday night I was watching America’s Most Wanted. They featured the story of a murder that took place about a half hour from my house and in the middle of our area of investigations,Easton,Pa. Two men killed a young girl in the city of Easton. These two men then took the body and carried it through a cemetary and dispossed of it at the cemetary in an old building called the Deadhouse. That night I watched this and even now I always keep thinking to myself,what if our group or another paranormal group was conducting an investigation there that night? I don’t even want to think what could have happened if there was someone there that saw these two men doing this and the two men saw other people in the cemetary late at night. You never know what kind of people you could run into while doing an investigation late at night. That’s the thing that scares me the most,even more then restless spirits. If any of you reading this conduct investigations please try not to go out by yourself and always be aware of your surroundings. When I conduct an investigation in a cemetary I always drive by it,or around it first,you never know who could be in there doing something there not supposed to be doing. If I see anyone or any unattended vehicles parked nearby that I do not recognize,I do not go any farther. I just wanted to let everyone know about what happened in Easton. I have heard from my friends and a girl that works in a wicca store in New Hope that the legend goes like this--- knock on the door of the old church and say"i challange the white knight" supposedly it is supposed to come out and chase you down the hil towards the railroad tracks, if you make it across the R-R tracks( i guess its gravity hill) you will be fine, the girl said that people have vanished in their attempts. do any of you know anything about this, have you tried it?? I was reading your theory about ghosts and babies, and it perked my interest. When I was studying abroad in Turkey in a village, mothers with newborns would never leave their babies alone in a room. I was told that according to Islam, ghosts or spirits CAN be seen by newborns, that their "third eye" is still open and does not close until they are 40 days old. Thus a mom will never leave her child alone in case a ghost is around and will be "drawn" towards the child. Thought you might find that belief interesting in light of what you wrote.....

I am posting this message to learn if anyone out there has had any strange encounters at the Red Rose Inn in Jennersville(?),PA. When I was very young (about 10 or so) my family went there for lunch one day. Back in those days I was more sensitive to hauntings possibly because of my young age. I could almost sense spirits and the moment we walked into that place I whispered to my mother "this place is haunted". Now, at that time, I knew nothing about the Inn's history but I did get that vibe.
We were shown to our table and I had gone to use the restroom and upon my return the waitress was filling the rest of my family in on the Inn's "permenant guests" so to speak. If you not familiar, its a very old building dating back to the days of Billy Penn himself (he owned it for a brief period) and a young girl was murdered. They accused an innocent man and later hung him on the front patio only to learn that the girl was actually killed by a drifter. The waitress had your basic "things flying off the table" and the "lights off and on" stories but I was just wondering if anyone else has had any first-hand stories to share. I am planning on returning to the Inn someday soon and perhaps conduct my own little investigation, maybe see if my old gut-feelings still work.

I don't know if you are still accepting stories for this site but if you are I have two short ones for you. The first involves the apartment that my wife and I lived in for almost three years. We were told right from the start that the apartment was said to be haunted by a previous tenent and upon moving in we discoverd that it may be true because I had paced a ceramic mask on the wall in the hall of the apartment and was sitting in the living room while my wife was in the bedroom and the mask came off the wall but didn't go straight down as one would expect but hit the railing at the top of the stairs and broke. Also we have had several occasions where we would try to find something and it couldn't be found right away then it would show up in an unlikely location. Also we got a cat while living there and she would periodically stare at spots on the walls or cieling but when we looked we didn't see anything there. The other experience occured while I was working for an automotive delivery service and was on my way from Saracuse to Mannhatan. I was using smaller highways to avoid the cost of the Thruway and came to the town of Sleepy Hollow. Right across the street from the sign announcing the name was a cemetary and I looked at it very briefly and had a sudden urge to get out of the town as fast as I could. I don't know if this is due to all the stories surrounding the "Headless Horseman" or not but it kind of freaked me out.

A friend of mine told me her son and a friend checked into the infamous "room 6" at the Logan Inn in New Hope, Pa. This room is known to be very paranormally active. She told me that neither of these boys had ever been the type suseptable to hysteria but on that night they both left the Inn early and returned home practically in tears. Is there anything to this and if so has the alliance ever investigated it?

I live here in Philly and know of sevral haunted places in the area. On is the Eastern State Pennantuary. It is right across the street from my school. From my classroom on the third floor i can see into it. It is terrifying even in broad daylight. every time i touch the walls on the outside i get chills. Another haunted place around here is Fort Miffiln. It's right on the river on a place they used to call Mud Island. It was a fort in the american revoilution. They have these tunnles that the bult underground in case they had to stay down there when the enemy attacked. the tunnels are very dark and the celing is low. When i first walked in to it with my friends on a field trip we all felt a cold presence. there is this story that the fort was under attack and two brothers realized that the american flag was not raised, so they rushed to put it up and as they did they were killed by a cannon ball. there is defentally something down there from the 1700's that has not yet left.

Im just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on what, if anything, determines how strong a spirit is. Ive read that there are a good bit of factors that can bring on activity but as far as the enitity or spirit itself How does it get its energy? Why are some stronger than others? I have some weird things goin on 'round here but mainly its jsut knockin noises when Im trying to sleep, besides the whole door rattling thing and whatever it was lighting up my room one time, I jsut get "knocking" sounds. Another thing I wonder is could the atmosphere of the house have anything to do with heightened activity. I ask because the noises arent so bad if I leave the lights on in the house. Could it be whatever is here is afraid of the dark?, lol

Hi my grandmothers house has been haunted for thirty years. It took my mother and her sisters a few years to figure out their neighbors were not playing games with them. Almost everyone who spent the night their have seen one, including my husband who did not belive in them. They only let you see them out of the corners of your eyes. There are three ghosts we usually see.The house is big and cold and the hallway stays cold, that is where we here laughing. Okay....For one thing...I don't believe in ghosts or spirits...or anything of the sort at least until a few months ago. I've been feeling as if I've lost my mind because I have no explanation for what has been going on.
Perhaps you guys could give me some information and maybe shed some light on a few things.
I think I have a spirit in my home. I know "it's"
around when I feel like gravity has just settled down on my body. I feel a slight headache each time it leaves. also...at the back of my head it feels as if someone or something is poking at it with their finger as if trying to get my attention. Nothing bad has come of this I just find it annoying. Have any of you ever heard of anything like this before? This happens the most in my living room area. There have also been a few instances where I have felt as if something was trying to force me to say something. What I don't know. Have I lost my mind?

Well, I live in a small town. I thought it was a quiet, normal town until I found out about the haunted houses around town. I have also experienced, along with my sisters, unusual occurences that have taken place in the home. For instance, I am the last awake in my house. I turn out all the lights and go to bed. I had been lying in bed when I heard my sister's door open. My sister walk into my room and asked if I had just ran through the hall. I told her no and asked why. She told me that someone had just ran through the hall. She then discarded the idea as her imagination. Then my mom came out of her room asking who ran through the hall. This is just one account of things that have happened. They don't happen very often and two occurences deal with a dog. My friend also lives in a house that is haunted by a 16 yr. old aged ghost who blew his brains out in his bedroom. There have bunchs of occurences with this ghost and there are others in other houses. I need advice on how to spot a haunted house, tell which ghosts are bad and good, know if I can speak to them without a seance, banish them or have them back down from the house, and how to capture them on film. If I have left out anything important that you want to tell me on advice, please do so.

I just love looking at the photos! I have quite an assortment of my own taken at our town's old cemetary. But I have a question. Didn't know if someone in PGHA could check it out, but didn't know how to reach them, so anyway, maybe someone out there could look, see if they see what I see. In the photo section, General Wayne Inn #6 photo, there is a photo of a girl on a chair and next to her an orb on the chair. Cool enough. But what I also see is in the mirror facing us, over the chair, is what appears to be an image, almost like two orbies or a mist of some kind. The mirror shows a reflection of a painting, but below the painting are something that appears some image, something is below it, showing in the bottom of the mirror. Can someone check it out for me? It may be nothing, but didn't know if anyone might notice it, too! Thanx!

Just recently my dog starting acting extremely strange. We took him to the vet, they ran $700 in tests and everything came back perfect.
My friend told me that animals are very sensitive to paranormal activity. First I was wondering if there is any truth to this. If she is right, what kind of things would the dog be doing?
I haven't put much thought into this because my boyfriend and I haven't noticed anything abnormal going on in the house. Is is possible for the dog to be seeing things and nothing at all be happening to us. And if this is a haunting, is this the way it usually starts and then progresses into something unpleasent?

So I saw the pre-season teaser that MTV made to show what all goes into a season of Fear. I saw that they were doing a show on the USS Hornet. Its right down the road from me so myself and some friends went there to see what we could find before we saw the actual episode. We were able to smuggle an EMF onboard, bags are not permitted. We took readings and photos in all of the compartments that Fear's psychics had anything to say about, that is all that were open. Unfortunately, the brig, catapult room and one of the galleys were not open. It seems that whole level is under renovation. At any rate, we came up with nothing. Tonight we watched the episode shot on the ship and they had some feaky stuff happen, some great thermal anomolies and one of the cast got a bloody lip for no apparent reason. I'm sure the fact that we were among hundreds of people that toured the ship that day and it was during the day had an effect on our results.
My question is: How do we convince the management of the ship to let us do an overnight with access to all areas without dropping the wad of cash MTV must have paid? And, is there anyone in the San Fransisco area that has access to thermal imaging equipment that wants to come along if we can get in?

Ok I have another question that I hope someone out there has any ideas or thought on. Ive read and seen where the people who contact ghosts talk about the spirit being happy, sad, frustated or what have ya. My question is can a spirits feelings effect a persons state of mind in the "real" world? Either in a conscious or subconcious level. I figure that if pet can pick up on an owners feelings, whether they be happy or sad, cant a person pick up and display the same feelings as the spirit that haunts their home and not even realize it? Or maybe even realize it and if you know youre picking up these feelings from the spirit is there anyway to fight off these feelings short of tryin to run the spirit out of the home?

Hi! I just started going out to this old cemetery in my little town of Park Falls Wisconsin. It's an old cemetary from the 1800's, and it was named after the first person who was buried there. It's called Nola. Anyway, it's sort of in the woods, on a long country road. It's pretty big for such a small town though. There's no lights out there, and I always go out there at night, so it's pitch black out there at night. It doesn't have any gates or anything, so you can go inside whenever you want, and is always open.
The first time I went out there was on July 29, 2000, on a warm night to take pictures for the first time. It was also the first time I ever went anywhere to take ghost pictures. I had been studying, on the internet, how to go about and take pictures, and E.V.P.'s for about 7 months before I finally decided to give it a try, and I have always been very interested in ghosts all my life, so it seemed like a good idea to document my own findings, to better educate myself on the subject, and July 29, 2000, would be succesfull for me.
I went out there, to the cemetary, at about 9:00P.M.CT, and brought my Dad and Uncle Rob, and my two sisters with. My Dad and I ended up being the only ones getting out of the car to explore the cemetary, because my Uncle Rob, and two sisters chickened out. So it was dark out, and no one else was there, and I started to take a few pictures, here and there. It felt different then I imagined, being out there at the cemetary at night and all, and it was almost a peacefull feeling. I had taken probably about 17 pictures before we made our way to the back of the cemetary, where I had my first strange experiance happen to me. I had reached a dead end, and stopped to take some pictures, because the air suddenly felt heavier and I got a feeling of not being wanted there. So as I positioned myself to take a picture, to my left, on the gravel road, something had flung gravel at my feet, almost like someone scooped it up with their foot and kicked it at me. This startled me, and my Dad asked me wat was wrong and I told him, so we headed back towards the middle. After we got back towards the middle, away from the back, everything felt fine again, and I finished out my role of film, 36 shots, and we headed back home.
Two days later, wen we had the film developed, I was pleasently surprised to see that my work had paid off. I ad only a few pictures with annomalies on them, but that was good enough for me. I had one with a large orb, floating, almost dead center in the middle of the picture, with a letter A in the middle, which I thought was very signifigant, and another orb, solid baby blue coored, hovering above some small tombstones, and one picture that shows what appears to be either a small clump of Ectoplasm, or 3 orbs joined together making a blob shape. It's hovering a good 10 feet from the ground and is orangish in color. There were two other pictures with very small points of light, in the distance, which I had a hard time figuring out if they were anything at all.
Since then I have been back there 3 more times, and each time I have had the most bizzare and amazing things happen to me. I have seen orbs streaking accross some trees, in the front of the cemetary, I ave eard a little girls voice cry out, with a witness who also heard it, I have seen an apparition walk away from me into the woods, which my Mm who was with me also seen. A friend of mine, and I, were there taking picture at night, and went to the back of the cemetary, the same place where it feels bad to be, and we were startled to hear, 3 feet away from us, a low grunt, a whoosh of air, and a thud combined, which was very loud, and startling, and we never could find an explanation for it.
Does this sound like a haunted cemetary, or could it be that they were more active because of my buisness there?
I have been offered a T.V. appearance for a network show, because I've had a lot more ghostly experiances prior to this, and the producer, who is also a psychic, thinks that I attract spirits, and that that may be why I've had so many ghostly experiances.
I would also like to know what the requirements are to become a member of a ghost hunting organization, and make a career out of it if possible.

I’m glad I found this site, there is a lot of updated information here. I saw the MTV show “Fear” a few days ago and I have some questions in regards to the second episode at St. Agnes Hospital (a.k.a. Fairfield Hills Hospital) in Newtown, Connecticut. There seemed to be a lot of activity going in there as the cast said they heard doors slamming shut, whispering, cold spots, banging sounds, etc going on in the background in which some of it was picked up by the microphone and camera. Do you think it was a little irresponsible of MTV to put them alone in that place? Especially, having that one guy acting as a medium during the séance with the ouija board and having that other guy go up into the attic alone with the EMF detector. I’m interested in a professional opinion. Thanks.

In a couple of months I'm going to the Outer Banks of North Carolina (Nags Head). I've been searching online trying to find a Tour or a list of homes (preferrably lighthouses) and so far I haven't had any luck. Can anyone help me out?

During my life I have had, in my opinion, alot of dejavus,
and I can feel how people are feeling about something just by walking into the room that they're in, sort of like vibes. I can feel bad vibes and good vibes. There are 3more things:1) I can sort of sense when people enter a room even if I am not looking in thier direction. 2)At certain places I feel like something is watching me. 3)I am living with my grandmother right now and I am afraid to sleep alone because I feel like there is something in the back room of the house, whats so strange about this is the fact that I only feel It in the houses that she has lived in and no other houses, and Im not afraid of sleeping in my other family member's houses.
Oh! one more thing,on a couple of occasions I have heard banging on the walls, it sounds like it's coming from inside the walls.

When I was a young boy my sister and I would ride with my grandfather after church when he went to visit his sister, who was in a nursing home down in Ahoski N.C. While he was inside visiting he would let us play outside. This one particular time my younger sister and I were playing in a large open field that was across the highway from the nursing home. We came across 3 or 4 old weathered Headstones near a very large oak tree. Being curious, we explored around this area. I can recall that one headstone had the name JOSEPH etched across it. Well...everything was going alright until I pushed on one of the other headstones because when I did everything seemed to stop. The wind, chirping birds, crickets, even time itself seemed to stop. It felt as though someone had locked us up in a sound proof room and was sucking all of the air out! It was the most complete silence that I have ever experienced and I have yet to feel as afraid about anything in my 43 years as I felt that afternoon. I looked at my sister and could tell she was becoming afraid. We took off running but it seemed like forever before we got back to the nursing home.
We went with our Grandfather 2 or three more times back down to Ahoski before my grandaunt passed away. We never did play in that field again though. That was 34 years ago but I can still remember it like it was yesterday!
I've often wondered if we had unknowingly disturbed a sleeping spirit. Has anyone ever experienced such an event?

Recently I have heard the reasons why things fly through the air - mind power...usually a teen/child. I know that my Aunt Sandra would disagree with that though. She is a medium and has always been surrounded by spirits - mostly children. She said that she used to freak out friends by asking her ghostly friends to move stuff for her, bread flying out of the bread bag, flowers popping out of a vase. I do really believe her. I was wondering if there is other accounts of this? She is not the only medium that I have met and I have seen and witnessed enough to believe. Its a joy to believe. LF

Every story on this board is scary. I have one that is more heartwarming. My Grandmother died a few years ago, we were never real close. A few days after she had died, I was lying in bed, on my back, I never lie like that. I was staring at the ceiling, I don't remember what I was thinking. But then I got this warm fuzzy feeling, and I felt a wet kiss on the tip of my nose, just like Nan used to kiss. It was so real I had to touch my nose to make sure it wasn't wet. I believe it was her saying goodbye.

Hi again, i just received my confirmation for the overngiht stay at fort mifflin at the end of April. I wanted to tell you about a funny experience. My father in law came over the other night. He loves making wooden crafts and he came with a surprise of a ghost made out of wood for me.I proceeded to tell him about my upcoming trip. After he left i put my new trinket in my Book and computer room to fit with all my other statues and all. My wife was already asleep when i did this. When i woke up for work not 2 hrs later. i found the wooden fixture downsatirs on my counter top. After asking wife, she denied moving it. I guess my "friend" likes it too and wanted a better look. :)

I was wondering about a place called Buck Hill Inn...I was watching MTV-Fear show and saw a Buck Hill Inn that they were in and recording the activities... Is this the same Inn that is near Buck Hill Falls and the in is haunted or not?...It says on this web site for the Falls that theInn is supposed to reopen... I'd like to know if this is the same Inn so I can go check it out myself... I feel I canfeel "presents" in certain places that I feel someone had beeb killed or commited suicide... back when I was young my family lived in two haunted houses in New Jersey but did not know it at the time...later after I grew up and told my parents that their was a "presents" in those two houses..they told me both places a person killed themselves there...so I still feel things but not as strong as before...they come out in dream I have now...So, I'd like to visit a "believed" to be haunted place so I can see if it's true about being able to feel these things...

Over the past 2 weeks my daughter has been awwakened around 3 am. The first description of the encounter is that of a black woman with shoulder length hair wearing only a towel as if about ready to take a bath or shower. The woman startles and jumps back when she realizes my daughter sees her. Along with the visual sighting is the feeling of a cold breeze blowing under my daughters comforter at her feet even though she says she was completely covered by the comforter.
The second encounter was of an old woman whose hair was in a bun, whse presence was initially only felt, but that my daughter saw after an overwhelming sense that she should turn and look. My daughter said she was wearing a loose dress and that she sensed the woman had been standing ther observing her

I would like to get some other peoples opinion on this. I'm wondering if spirits can actually see humans or do they just get the feeling that there is another spirit there, the other spirit being you. They hear something banging around and then start making noises of their own trying to mkae contact? Sounds possible to me but hey what do I know.
I also have some pics I took around my house that appear to be orbs, seein how I cant get anyone else to tell me if these "orbs" I see are orbs or jsut reflected light, If theres anyone out there that has experience in knowing what to look for to determine the difference in orbs and reflected light, if there is a way, please let me know and I will send you the pics I took.

I just found this site today and Ive had "experiences" in the house Im currently living in and I was hoping I could get some feedback on this.
I bought a house about 8 months ago. Me and my then girlfriend decided to move into the house while we were remodeling it. Not wanting to move a bunch of stuff in we jsut occupied one bedroom in the house. From the beginning I heard doors opening and footsteps up and down the hall at night. I work a weird shift so Im normally up through the night. I never told my girlfriend what I heard I always made up and excuse to get out of bed and go look. One morning about 3am I was coming out of the shower and heard the sound of someone stepping away from the bathroom door. I grabbed the nearest thing I could and swung the door open only to find no one there. As I was walking into the bedroom I caught a glimpse of someone or somethig standing just inside the doorway of a spare bedroom,so real that I swung thinking it was someone there, well nothing. I went on into the bedroom, locking the door behind me. Well my girlfriend woke up when I got in the room and we sat there talking like we always did, never did I mention what had just happened, and as we sat there I heard the whole door opening footsteps thing start up, and then she looked at me and says, There it goes again. Playing dumb I asked her what she was tlaking about and she proceeded to tell me that the bedroom door across the hall opened by itself and then she would hear footsteps going from one bedroom to another and then up the hall, then back down again in a few minutes, and that the funny thing was that the bedroom door was always opened. I said no the funny thing is there is no bedroom door. I took it off the hinges when we moved into the house because it was busted.Well we talk more about it and she then tells me that her and the neighbor did see something in the house, a white shadowy figure standing in front of the bathroom! I never mentioned to her what had happened right before I got in the room. SHe went on to tell me that it usually started about 7 in the evening and she'd heard it through the night til about 10 in the morning. There was never a pattern it just happened at different times. That it seemed to go from one room to the other and then up the hall never messing with our room. I told her thats because it knew better than to mess with me. BAD MISTAKE! very bad mistake indeed. We kinda laughed about it and then turned out the lights to go to bed and not but a few minutes later the bedroom door started shaking, violently like someone was trying to rip it off the hinges. We jumped up and turned on the lights and she asks if Im gonna go and see what it was. I said well no, you know exactly what it was and if it couldnt get in the first time it was gonna get in the second time. That she was a police officer so she was better at situation like that anyway so if she wanted to go look, have at it. Well she did and she found nothing of course. Well that was enough for me. After that she had said that she had contactwith ghosts before nad it didnt bother her, I said I didnt like it so the next evening she went into the room it seemed to originate from and asked it to leave. Things calmed down after that but the footsteps were still heard every now and again, I catch glimpses of movement out of the corner of my eye, and I never made another smart alec comment about it either, lol.
Well now days I still hear things knockin around at night, usually in the kitchen area, every now and again I get the feeling that someone is watching me though Im the only one in the house now and Ive heard doors opening but in another part of the house now. My questions are this.
Can supernatural or ghostly experiences happen at certain times? Ive noticed between 2 and 4 am seem to be the worse.
Can the "ghost" actually be just be "Ghost sounds"? meaning I hear doors opening and closing but they never actually open and close.
Why would it move from the back of the house to the front of the house?
Does anyone have any idea what exactly "it" is and if theres anyway I can find out for myself what "it" without the use of seances or ouija boards, my girlfriend wanted to bring one into the house but I refused.
And last but not least. I found "witchcraft" books in the house when I moved in and noticed that almost every one of the "spells" that were highlighted in the book had to do with "protection against evil spirits". Could this have anything to do with it?
any feedback would be apreciated. Im a littel un nerved about it all, but its not gonna run me out of my home.

My wife and I visit Gettysburg often and I've always spent every minute possible on the battlefield after dark right up to the 10p.m. closing time. Although I've heard of the many ghost stories there over the years that's not why I would go out at night. It was more for the peace and quiet and lack of tourists. Also it's a good time to simply sit and imagine what it must have been like back during those fateful days in July, 1863. I have all of Mark Nesbitt's ghost books and videos and even had the pleasure of meeting him for breakfast a few years ago. Although the material was fun to watch and read I wasn't really a believer. I guess you could say I had a "show me" mentality. One night about 5 years ago I was doing some night shooting with a camcorder at Devil's Den. Nothing unusual was visible to the naked eye but after returning to the motel room and reviewing the film I saw a ghostly image fly right in front of me. It was a warm, clear evening and no one else was there except my wife who was hiding in my van. I never really thought much of it until I started doing a little web surfing and saw some of the ectoplasm photos. They looked very similiar to the image I captured on video. This past Thanksgiving I managed to talk my wife into going out after dark with me and much to my surprise she even went into the Triangular Field to try out her new digital camera. She took a few photos with nothing out of the norm. Then out of nowhere she got a great shot of ectoplasm right in front of her. She instantly wanted out of there. Anyway, I'm now a believer and plan on purchasing some "ghost hunting" tools. I already bought a nightshot sony camcorder and hope to get a tape recorder, Tri Field detector and maybe a few other goodies. Although I'm disabled thanks to a drunk driver many years ago I hope to get some good results. This goes back several years. I was deer hunting along a small strip between the gettysburg Country Club and the battlefield. I climbed up the biggest and oldest tree along the creek so i could cover the largest area. It was late afternoon early evening, a great time to catch a deer coming down to the creek for a drink. When out of the corner of my eye i spotted someone in a uniform working his way toward me. He was dressed in a blue uniform. At first i thought that maybe he was a US Park Ranger making sure that i stayed off the battle field. But they usually wear green uniforms not blue. This fellow was jumping from tree to tree trying to keep from being seen by me. He seemed intent on getting closer to me. He was kind of playing a came of peek-a-boo with me. I watched him with my binaculors as he got closer to me i made out his features. He was well groomed dark hair and a dark beard. He was distigueshed looking and not at all ghostly. I figgured he did not want me hunting there and it made me mad, becouse he was upsetting my deer hunting. He made his way to the last tree in the corner of the woods, to his left was an open field and in front of him was the creek. he just keep playing peek-a-boo hiding behing the tree and just peeking around at me. After a short time i had enough. I got mad. And climbed down the tree to give him a piece of my mind. He ruined my afternoon hunt and i was going to tell him off. I kept my eyes on him the whole time and as i i neared the tree he was hiding behind he just disapeard.
This troubled me for some time. Till i finally investagated what happend on that spot back in 1863. It so happends that Union General Buford was shot and killed not 50 yards from where i was hunting. He was shot by a sniper who had climbed up a tree on the other side of the creek possibly the same tree i was hunting from. Could it be that i was in some way recreating something that the General did not like????

Let me first say how thrilled i was to find a society rooted here in Philadelphia, my birth place and where i reside even today. Not to force beliefs on people , to each his own as they say. I come from a family who is used to "weird" things happening while growing up. My grandmother is a strong psychic and has been consulted on many occassions by the state dept. on location of natural disasters and such. I was told that her gift is passed onto me and my cousin. Being very openly observant of people, i can sense their needs and problems. My grandmother calls it the " healing hand, but in a psychological sense." I am trailing off from the subject matter at hand, but id would love to meet other ghost enthusiasts in the philadelphia area to chat. In regards to the EVP's on Bolton... This is what I had gathered from listening to them... (I'll try to put it in a story form because some of the EVP's seem to be out of sequence)
It seems that there was a car accident... ("how in the world..." Bolton #5 and "we have our vehicle"~Bolton #8) where there was drinking involved.("bottle of vodka"~Bolton #6) Some sort of family outing perhaps.(Bolton #2) I think that all were immediately killed except for thr driver (who is the one on the EVP's) (Bolton #1)who says "I'm over here...help me out". Apparently there was "blood" (Bolton #3) and pain ("ouch" Bolton #9)Also, was thr driver telling one of the passangers to "go on...get out" (Bolton #7) prior to the accident?

I posted a message a little while ago about my a ghost in my friend's house. Well, I went and nothing happened, in case you were wondering. But, I did get the story...Supposedly, the girl was playing in the Carrage House (a barn-type building separated from the house) and she either fell or jumped out a big window on the top floor of the Carrage House. Her room was on the third floor of the actual house, and that is supposed to be why she "haunts" that level. Now, I'm am 100% convinced that there is a ghost in that house and my friend recently asked me for some advice. She is remodeling her house and she can either remodel her room or move her room up to the entire third floor, which is vacant now. My question to all of you is, Is it safe to move up there and "take" her room? Thanks to anyone that takes the time to respond.

I've recorded several evp using a General Electric mini tape recorder, I intend to invest in a mini disk recorder soon. After putting them into the computer for sound editing I find I can clean them up only so much. I use cool edit 98 and GoldWave sound editors. Could you suggest any sound editing software to get the best results? I've also taken photos as well with a "Yahoo" digital camera. It's equipted with IR and motion detection. Again I ask humbly if you can suggest some image editing software that has good enhancement features. Thank you.

I would like to ask when PGHA is excepting new members(active members). I know that you must receive many requests from people about new memberships but I have to try for myself. At the risk of sounding like a complete fool...(and I'm sure you've heard this before) I think I have a gift. Not a 6th sense gift, I'm not really sure what to call it or what it acuatlly is, I just have feelings. I have what I think to be pictures of ghosts. I have feelings in certain rooms and different places I've been. My brother is also like this. I've always been interested in the paranormal field and I would love to investigate for myself and my interest but I don't know where to start. I know that I can't (and too affraid) to do investigations by myself. Anyway, If your not excepting anyone new could you please let me know of other groups that may be?

I just wanted to inform everyone that I may have a picture of a ghost. It was taken a few weeks ago at the Main Line Adult Education center. ( I believe that is the name of it.) It is in the Hartford Dog park off of Biddulph Road in Radnor. I don't know much about the building, but I do know that it is being preserved by the township of Radnor. I don't know the age of it, but I will find that out for you. I would really like to know wether or not I have a genuine ghost.

My daughter has had some unusual experiences...things that happen that have no explanation in our home. She recently showed me a photograph of herself and a friend in the backyard of another friends home. The photo has four orbs each a different size. Do spirits follow people around or does the spirit activity seem to be tied to a particular place? This sounds like a really crazy question!
I'd like to learn more.

I have been trying for awhile to photograph orbs or verticies. I have taken many pictures in "haunted areas" with no sucess. I was at new bethel church last night and still didn't feel anything out of the ordinary. I am very persistant but a little frustrated. Does anyone have any really good suggestions for picture opportunities. someone please respond

My daughter lives in Texas in a leased house. She has seen many shadows and heard whistling and someone walking when she was alone in the house. Her son has heard whistling also, especially when he was alone in the house. Other strange things have happened also, like one night their cat was left outside by accident and when they went to bed, both she and her husband had something tug on their feet. They were astounded of course and got up to see who or what had done it. When they went into the living room, they heard the cat outside. That was a friendly thing.
Last night her husband had just gotten home from work (3:30am, working late shift) and when he was getting ready for bed they both saw a dark shadowy figure move slowly around him a couple of times then disappeared. They dismissed it as imagination. Then they went to bed. Her husband was half asleep and she was lying on her stomach, when she felt something on her back, it was "heavy but not really heavy" she felt if she tried she could move it. She tried to call out to her husband and couldn't talk, she tried to move and it held her legs down. When she tried to call her husband's name, she felt heavy ugly breating in her ear. She finally got a moan out and her husband woke up and the weight and breathing disappeared. She is afraid to tell people about these things for fear they will think she is crazy. She wants to know, can a ghost touch you and breath so you can feel it??
Your answers are greatly appreciated as she is in a real panic now.

My dog lives outside but in the winter we take him inside and put him in the basement, but lately it seems like there is something down there, or at least he thinks so.I know that because when I even take him near the stairs he pulls me away, which is bad cause he is 1 of the biggest dogs in the world. Also he barks when he is down there which is really wierd cause he only barks when someone is there.And every night I hear the kitchen chairs moving at exactly mid-night.It is really starting to freak me and Chance out.HELP!!!

Hello..... I have a question I was hoping someone here could help me with... or the past year a few friends and myself have made a bunch of random trips to a Local Hospital, I wont give the name cuase we never had permision to enter, we decided since we couldnt get permision to go, that we would anyway cause we fealt there must be somthing they dont want people knowing or seeing there.. any trip we have ever taken there is for the most part to take pictures,video tape, or record.. gather info and samples of things found....all thought many trips produce some sort of paranormal activity only a few times have we cuaght an image or sound..some pictures have orbs in them, one has a blueish grey face in it.. we have often heards sounds or noises that should just not have been heard..like a little girl about the age of 7-9 laughing in a hallway at about 3 am.. well anyway... one time I decided to take a mini tape recorder with and see what happens..only three people were on this trip, my friend,his girlfriend and myself.. I pulled out the mini tape recorer and started taping...a few minuts went by (about 2-3) and I decided I would stop for now... I didnt end up playing the tape for about 5 days... once I did myself begin to talk on the tape exslaining to the others to speak in a normal tone voice so not to make me think I have somthing on tape I dont later.. then a listened a while and heard it... It sounded like a male voice wispering.. there are about three words at the point I heard it.. I played it for several friends without teling them what was on the tape, what to listen for or even where it was taped at... I held off doing so untill they listened to it several times theirself..once I stoped playign the tape over I asked ok, wht did you guys hear.. all of them said they heard wispering...some said of two guys other said a guy and a woman.. but all of them said they heard it through out the tapeing.. after an hour or so later a friend asked what the tape was of and who it was.. I explained that it wa at the abandon hospital and I dont know who it was, I exsplained it wasnt myself or the other two that had gone with me... I was wondering if there is a free program out there you can download to help filter out sounds on playback of audio... I know for sure it wasnt the three of us who went , and I know for sure it was not another person (living anyway)becuase there was no one else there, letalone anyone who could have been standing or walking next to me wispering into he tape recorder while I was taping without me seeing them and knowing they were there.. I know it sounds silly but I have this on audio tape and it is real.. I also know it was not legel for us to enter this place and I suggest no one else should try to if they know where I am speeking of... if anyone can help or is interested in knowing more of the stuff that has happend you can feel free to email me.. thanks again NoX

Ok i know this sounds fake, but i swear im not lieing. I can more often than not see spirts. However if this helps you the spirts i see are not normal looking people they are always disfigured or in some other way grotess(sorry i can spell). Also my girlfriend see them, and we recently noticed that when we are together we seem to see more of them. Thank you for your time and if you know the answer to this please post it. I had an experience that unnerved me when I was about 13. We had company, and everyone had just gone to bed. I KNOW I was wide awake, because I had only gone to bed a few minutes earlier. I suddenly heard a loud crash in my closet, that sounded like a heavy metal or aluminum object hitting the floor. (The floor in my closet had no rug.) I knew I didn't have anything like that in my closet. I wish now that I'd gotten up to look in the closet, but I was just a kid, and I was scared. Anyway, the next morning I asked my parents and the relatives who were staying with us if they'd heard anything shortly after we went to bed, and no one had heard it, even though our house was very small and the noise was very loud. Anyone have any ideas of what could have caused it?

Yesterday was Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000...
Such a strange occurance on that day, that I had to take 2 nerve pills to calm down. I told everyone I saw that day. I was almost in the passing out phase.....
There is a preliminary I must tell about first, as this occurence is probably 99.999999% due to the fact that my mother had just passed away on Nov. 25, 20000.....She was buried on Wednesday, Nov. 29,2000.
Although I did not SEE a spirit, I truly believe her spirit was in our home yesterday between 1 and 1:30 pm.......I'm just about 100% sure it was her, but I don't know if she was mad or happy with me, or just saying hello or goodbye, or that she's lingering in Limbo or Purgatory waiting for the gate to Heaven to open....
Here's what happened: My son had given me a really nice heavily decorated standing crucifix for Christmas last year '99......I always keep in on my desk in our bedroom on the desk next to my bed. It stands alone and a picture of Jesus is nearby......The Crucifix roughly weighs about a half a pound......and sits on a three legged sturdy base....
I used this Crucifix to lay on the exterior of her casket at the Mass service. The Priest blessed the Crucifix and the casket, etc.......Then I brought the Crucifix back home and put it on my desk in its usual position......
So now it was Weds. the 6th of Dec., 2000.....I had been downstairs in our bilevel home typing a letter on this computer as I am now; The time was between 1 and 1:30 pm that I heard a very loud bang upstairs. I stopped and thought "oh well, Mark (husband) must've come home; someone dropped something heavy upstairs".....at the moment of the bang, my dog Skittles, who was laying on the couch in the same room with me and her head popped up in attention to the noise. She didn't pursue it, but just layed back down after not hearing any additional noise.......
Then I thought right away it was probably the baby gate that slipped and fell down (we have all hardwood floors upstairs, so all noises are easily heard)......We keep the baby gate up sometimes just resting against a doorway so Skittles won't go in our son's room and do her "business" as she had been having a habit of doing lately......
So I didn't think about this bang or what it could've been anymore; I continued writing my letter, which I finished at about 2:10 pm......I had to get a shower fast and run pick up our son from school by 2:45.....So I ran upstairs.....
And flung open our bedroom door to turn on my curling iron, but my attention was immediately drawn to a sight which had NO explanation of happening.... My crucifix was laying face down on the desk. I felt my blood pressure rise to about 200 it seemed; I froze and almost instantaneously I thought of mom. And that this is what made the noise! Then I thought, wait a minute.....let me check to see if the baby gate was still up.....yep, still up where I put it this morning! Still I stared and stared at the cross as it lay there. I picked it up very slowly....wondering how in the hell it was possible that this thing made that big noise! And how it even fell, because I immediatley checked the three legs to see if maybe it had a chip or something and a slight vibration of a truck passing the house would've made it fall.....No way! The legs were perfect, secure. The way it would've fallen is if maybe a book had fallen on it, or someone or something picked it up and slammed it!!!! I even tested the book theory. The Crucifix will not fall even if you slam a heavy book next to it! I checked every possible thing that could've made it fall, but I couldn't find ONE!
There was no one else home but me and Skittles, our dog.There were no windows open, no other things that had fallen to make that loud noise!!!!! I checked the whole upstairs before really panicking.....Then.... I was flabberghasted with fear that maybe mom's spirit HAD done it and as I had NO time to call anyone to tell about it because I had to be at places fast....In fact, I turned off the curling iron.....there was no time to do this now......Jumped in the shower and was "talking" to mom and hoping she wasn't mad at me......and that we wouldn't fight over her money she left us....." I hurried out of the house to pick our son up and tell him.....I told him what happened and his reaction was: "Mom, you know mom-mom was buried one week ago today at that time you heard that noise"......And it's true. She was being lowered into the ground between 1 and 2 pm. on Weds. Nov. 29........What are the chances of me actually getting view of her as a spirit in the coming weeks and months? Has anyone has something like this happen? Was this her saying goodbye? Or behave yourself, I haven't left yet? If her spirit had gone to Limbo or Purgatory, will this happen, and will other things happen later until she gets to Heaven or her headstone installed on her grave? I am still in shock over this thing happening. And now I am constantly looking for other evidence of her spirit having been here.....
Any ideas or advice or theories from anyone?????!

I'm a little curious about the amount of pictures that just consist of orbs. When I was growing up my mother and grandmother would talk of a man in a black suit that would appear in our old house. They saw him in such detail that they would actually said "excuse me" without thinking, when trying to walk past him in the hall. Even in the house my parents currently live in, a girl died of insulin shock before we moved in, my father, who I might add is a die hard skeptic and didn't believe in any of this, saw this girl walk down the steps from the second floor and vanish. Is this an uncommon occurance? Are there any theories on the difference between the "orbs" and "apparitions"?

Hello everyone.
My brother is a Lawyer for a small Law firm here in Fresno Ca. He has told me about several instances where he has been working late at his office and heard the sounds of foot steps and doors closing when no one else should have been in the office. I talked to him yesterday and he seemed very exicited. When I asked him what was up, he told me that he was working late again night before last. He and another lawyer were in his office discussing a court case when they heard a door slam. He said it startled both of them because they were the only ones in the building at that time. When my brother went to open the door, he heard another noise that he said sounded like a door opening. He opened his door and he and his co worker both saw what they thought was a woman in a white evening gown floating down the hall way away from their location. My brother said they watched it for about 2 seconds before it disapeared from veiw. He said that they were not able to see her face because her back was toward them, but she looked like she was from a different time. He went on to say that he and his coworker made a hasty exit. He spoke with one of the senior partners the next day about the incident and the partner explained to him about a train accident that had happened in the late 50s which killed a woman and her lover. Apparantly the lover was driving a car that did not stop at a railroad crossing and was struck by a train. this accident is supposed to have happened right across the street from the law firm. The partner went on to say that alot of weird activity took place in the mid 70s but it had settled down. Now it seems to have started back again.
My question is this...What determines how or why a building or home is haunted?

I have a little story here,maybe someone has an idea as to what it could have meant.My father was in bed, it was in the early morning hours.He saw a figure of a person enter his room,it then stood at the side of his bed looking down at him.The figure had no face.It said nothing,but my father could feel that this "being" was trying to get him to go with him.My dad began to resist at that point.Whatever it was turned around and walked right back out of the room. My dad says he woke-up sweating and yelling. During this whole episode,he said he felt wide awake the whole time it was happening.He could see everything perfectly clear around the room.He said it didn't feel like a dream.My father is skeptical when it comes to supernatural phenomena,however he still talks about this incident. It must had some impact on him for him to still talk about it to this day. I've heard other stories similar to his. Maybe somebody out there has an idea as to what this was? Any response is much appreciated.... Thank you

I've been living in my home for about a 1 1/2 yrs now and I've never noticed anything strange before. About 2 weeks ago some freaky things started happpening(missing objects, open doors, temp. changes).
Now, what I was wondering is if a ghost can sort of wonder into a home. We've had no recent deaths in the family and our stress level is abnormally low. The only thing that is out of the ordinary is the fear level. I'm extremely interested in paranormal activity, but I'm also terrified of it. Please let me know if this is just an active imagination or if something might be really going on.

I'm currently a caregiver in a private home (taking care of an elderly woman) that we believe is being haunted by one or more ghosts----specifically unexplained voices, objects being moved, other noises in the home after dark, bone-chilling cold air in certain areas of the house at times..... This started quite suddenly about 1 week ago ( the woman's husband died exactly 7 months previous to this). We believe it may be the deceased husband and he may be concerned or agitated about something. The woman has Alzheimer's disease and has been very insistent in the last few months that her husband is around--she believes he is still alive---we attributed that before to her increasing confusing, but now we believe she truly has been conversing with him.
Meanwhile it has the caregivers so concerned that no one wants to stay in the home at night.(since she can't be left alone this is going to jeopardize her remaining in the home vs. a nursing home.) We are wondering how to find out who this is and what they want. Any ideas or replies appreciated,

I have recently begun a group with 3 others, who like myself are very serious about the research of paranormal phenomena.
We just completed our first real hunt. It was a local cemetery; very old and large. Unfortunately our hunt had a time constraint. Although we were welcome to come in, we were not allowed to stay beyond the gate closing at 9pm. We are hoping that we will be allowed to stay beyond the gate closing as the gate keeper becomes more comfortable with us.
We were only able to get 268 shots. Of those 268 shots, we were able to confirm 2 positives from the 35mm Minolta, 4 positives from the digital, and 4 from 2 35mm Kodak Disposables. Actually, I was pleased with this on our first hunt. We had 2 audios going, but we did not get any EPVs.
I am getting too long here!lol Here is my question.
I am tearing my hair out on an anomaly that appears in the 2 disposable cameras.(They are not included in my confirmed positive count I gave you) What appears in several of these shots is a white opaque area which varies in size and shape in the lower right hand corner. I am the hunter that used these cameras. I have ruled out obstructions such as a strap (there isn't one on these), image in foreground(I avoided that), my fingers (keep them carefully tucked away from the lens), or my hair(tied back and covered.) In inspecting the negatives, the anomaly is within the frame, and does not appear to be a developing problem. Is there anything else this could be? What I find strange is that this anomaly appears in both rolls, not just one. Is there something characteristic to the disposables that could cause this? Is this a type of light leak?
Well actually these were alot of little questions. Any feedback or resources you could provide, would be sincerely appreciated. (I would like to finish my log sheet!lol)

I went to school there and I know that there are a number of places both on and around campus that are supposedly haunted, like the Howard Johnson's. I know some people who have had experiences. I'm a little curious about the amount of pictures that just consist of orbs. When I was growing up my mother and grandmother would talk of a man in a black suit that would appear in our old house. They saw him in such detail that they would actually said "excuse me" without thinking, when trying to walk past him in the hall. Even in the house my parents currently live in, a girl died of insulin shock before we moved in, my father, who I might add is a die hard skeptic and didn't believe in any of this, saw this girl walk down the steps from the second floor and vanish. Is this an uncommon occurance? Are there any theories on the difference between the "orbs" and "apparitions"?

Okay, tonight(notice the date this is posted) I'm going to my friend's dad's house. Supposedly, the upper levels of the house are haunted by a little girl. I'm not sure what to expect considering I've only heard stories and seen the house from the outside...I'm hoping I come up with something good....anyways, I'm leaving in a couple of hours and wanted to know if anyone had any tips on how to contact the ghost or how to find out if there really is one...I'll post another note if I anything substancial happens...If I sound immature, you're right..I'm 15 but I'm really interested in the scientific aspects of ghosts, not just the "scary" aspects of it.

Awhile ago I visited Rockwood museum (in Delaware County) for there Christmas display. On the tour we were not allowed to take pictures do to the camera's falsh blub would damage the furniture (?). Anyway when we the tour was finished we went into the court yard where I saw a interesting little tree. I snapped a picture of it and when it was developed there was a mist that seemed to be moving in front of the tree, I also took a picture of the front of the house and the same misty thing appeared again. The rest of the role of film is fine, nothing goofy in any other pictures. Now I was wondering if maybe someone could look at this and let me know if it could have been an exposure problem or something. And if Rockwood museum has had any history of hauntings. I would love to send the picture in but I am unsure on how to do so.

I was just browsing a site that is listed in your links. It's the International Society of Paranormal Investigators. On their site they show a picture that was purchased on ebay that is supposedly haunted. The title of the pic is Surfing the Apocalypse. The previous owner has seen many things, specifically the boy in the picture actually leaving the pic. People who have seen photos of the pic claim to have various reactions such as repulsion, physical illness and blackouts. I saw the pic and to tell you the truth...it made me very uncomfortable and I can't explain why. I was so uncomfortable that I immediately got off of that site. Have you heard anything about this picture? If so, how and/or why does it invoke such strange reactions from people merely seeing a photo?

I was just wondering, after reading your comments and listening to many of the recordings you've aquired, I began to wonder is it neccessary to seperate yourself from the emotional side of your area of work. Afterall this is a work that invovles the essence of a human's exsistence. It is as if these ghosts are being treated as unhuman, or as animals who are just there to be observed. I was wondering that after you make a positive ID on an area so to speak, do you ever try to figure out why this paranormal activity is occuring, and do you ever try to assist those who are contacting you. For instance the recording of the man saying "Don't walk on me I'm dead" was disturbing and heartbreaking, did you wonder why he was contacting you? Can these beings be helped? Or is this merely a scientific pursuit. I understand that many people need hard scientific facts to beleive in your work, do you fear that getting involved into the emotional side will discredit your work? Is your work a crusade to prove the doubtful wrong? Are you just strictly observers? Maybe this is just an area the mere lay people can not comprehend, if so please excuse me for my ignorance.
Just wondering.

I just wanted to drop a quick line to let you know that your site is the most fascinating one I have ever visited.
I first checked out the site last year around Halloween (for scary stories to post...of course!) I only had the chance to read the true stories and see some of the photos. Then on Monday (Sept. 11) I heard Lew on Y-100 and decided to check out the site again. Mainly to get info on the Ft. Mifflin conference. It was at that point that I decided to investigate the entire site. It is so engrossing...I'm suprised I haven't been fired from my job yet! I just get so caught up in the stories and theories, etc...I can't get anything done!
Anyway...long story short...thanks and keep up the good work!

Hey Ghost hunters, your site is great, I know its going to be very popular. I stumbled upon it after I had bought your book "Philadelphia Ghost Stories" it was great. I was suprised to find out that you do many investigations outside Philadelphia, and actually in my backyard. Forrest Hills is a place with a definate aura to itself. When reading your reports my feelings when walking through there were very much the same as the members on your team. I walked through there for two summers, including this one past or should I say present(summer 2000), on my way home from the train station, and my route lead me until recently down the path of the Jesus Statue. Before I had gone the long route out towards pine road, but this summer I searched for a shorter route. The statue itself is a very 'creepy' entity. One peticular day I remember as I walked down the path various graves, the copper/bronze flat lying ones, had been ripped out and somehow dragged to the foot of the statue, it was very odd. I don't know if it was neighborhood kids or what. I dunno if this could be any legitimate reason for the graveyard's unrest but I think there may have been some overlapping of property lines and development when the neighborhood behind the treeline behind the Jesus Statue was built, where you were standing was at one time a part of Moreland township in Montgomery County who's history dates back to around the mid 1600's, most of Somerton Philadelphia was part of that county as well. Ok I'm proablly looking for things that aren't there. But I do know I shared the same strong feeling as one of the members on your team had felt, invading on the dead, its very strong, and frightening. I would think my neighborhood would be a large area for activity, less than about 3 miles from forrest hills is another graveyard and my neighborhood lies between the two. I'd love to know when you guys are going back, maybe I could join you. OK Love your site thanks again and be safe out there!
