Grand Moff Tarkin didn't know shit about the Jedi. He considered them an evil religoius group because he grew up watching the propoganda movies that suggested as much. The Jedi aren't religuois, they have no kind service, no particular God, or gods. If anything they are like Budhists, trying to be at one with themselves and their surundings.

Look at the government of the Federation. It's Communist. At least in Star Wars we replace an evil dictator with Republic!
