I said they detected it, they beamed down crew to investigate the ship, But instead of finding a disabled ship, they found a fully funtioning Carrak warship.

It happens, Luke said in one of the Black Fleet Crisis books, that one could go hyper shortly after leaving orbit.

with very specific targeting and pre-programming they could do it.

They would be juking and jinking like mad, Carrak's are very well balanced between armor, armement, shields, and speed. They could survive some phaser hits, I do recal saying that they were damaged.

>Fourthly, where is the Imperial fleet hiding?

They were hiding behind other planets, where the feddie sensor beams couldn't reach them, sensors are line of sight, they can't wrap around planets.

Mass can do plenty of damage without a great deal of speed, and the Intrepid would be surprised by that unusual tactic, they might dodge they might not.

They were pinned into place, the imps were coralling them into the asteroid field, where their options were: 1. run deeper into a very large and dangerous asteroid field or 2. fight the imps, which would be costly at best.

And there is the whole Feddie ships are science vessels first, where-as Imperial vessels are warships designed to fight long battles in pro-longed campeigns, with weapons that (if you strictly at the tech manuals) are much more powerful.

We've all seen feddie ships take some serous shit, but imps are designed to take much more.
