Ray, John, you are right, we do a lot for the world and a lot for our country with the money we have. My point is that we can do a hell of a lot more. You mentioned one or two famous actors who gave to charity and i find this truely noble. I want to add another to the list. Manute Bol, the incredably tall basketball play from a tribe in Africa who's name i have forgotten. I saw a documentory on him a while ago on tv and i have to say he is the kind of person we can all really look up to... a modern day hero. He takes the majority of his earnings and sends it back to his tribe in africa along with donating to charitable organizations. They guy is a perfect example of what the more fortunate americans ought to aspire to be. Tell me... why does Bill Gates need the billions of dollars he has? Come on, the guy is probably very intellegent and stumbled across a great idea, but is he soo much greater than any man that he has billions of dollars to his name? He should be ashamed of himself for representing the type of greed and selfishness that America is all too well known for today. Couldnt he just live comfortably off a few million and do the world some good donating some of that money to charity? I would have to think he has reached a point where he cant even find a way to spend his money. He just has more than he knows what to do with. Anyway, we see the rich getting richer, and the number of poor growing, and the rich dont seem entirely interested in giving. Professional Sports players, Famous actors, THE BACKSTREET BOYS!!!! do they deserve their millions? even if you think they do, you can live comfortably on a lot less than what they get. If you were one of millions of homeless, jobless people living on the streets of NY city, i dont think you would be soo proud of the greedy starts in our nation. Yes, we do have some noble people, who exibit great moral leadership with their money, but i fear the vast majority shows they have little interest in homeless, jobless, or the helpless that have a hard time getting started even if they are motivated to do so. Compassion my friends.
