Subject: Why are people poor in this country?

Why are people poor in this country. If we look at it closely, and honestly, i think we will see that in this nation, with its widespread opportunity..that the poor exist (for the most part) because they messed up. There are so many social programs to aid them (for example FREE education to minorities). It has been said that "if you cant make it here...its doubtful you will make it anywhere". Also, its a situation of misguided priorities. Take the inner cities for example. Families with 6+ kids (each kid = a fatter welfare check mind you) live in a house thats unsuitable for such a large family, yet mommy and daddy go out in their $250 Air Jordans and $80 Fubu shirt with a fresh new hairstyle and nails done up. Now i know this isnt ALWAYS the case but damn is it evident. I was talking to John, who has worked the past few years volunteering at habitat for humanity. The day they delivered the house, the "family in need" rolled up in a brand new lincoln navigator....$35,000+ ride. Where are the priorities at? You cant help but admit...alot of the "poor" people in this nation who widen our class schism are only reaping what they sow. I know this isnt always the case...so im not generalizing...but if you look im sure youll see this is true. The opportunities are here in this country...you just have to get off your ass and harness them.
