I did a debate on the cost of going through the process, as compared to life in in prison... I found sources that said the death penality was more costly, and sources that say life in prison is more costly. Basically I think its case by case. In some situations, appeals and longer than normal processes must occur, so it may be more expensive. But I think in some cases life in prison is more expensive as well. Plus we get to harbor and provide for a criminal. Another thing is the space and waste this person creates... There are a lot of other stupid costs...whatever. capital punishment stays!
