joe, i love the views, but yet i must disagree. I feel that everything you said is completely valid, and perhaps may work, but "may work" is the key. I say this because most of what you say is inconcievable to the U.S. and the basis on which we as a country live on. The problem is that we will never give much more than .01% of our GDP a year towards foreign aid. As it is America gives the most foreign aid of any country in the world, we could give more, but we wont. The reason we wont is because we are more concerned with our own stability than the stability of the world. and why not? we should put ourselves first, we earned what we have, why should we be the caretakers of the world, put all the worlds problems on our shoulders? It does seem like that would be the right thing to do, but in this sense i think it is you who must put it in persepective, because a country will always put itself first.
