Jeff the argumentor... its difficult to refute what you said because most of what was in your last entry was actually not what you said, but what i said, but anyway... you seemed to have some questions so i will do my best to explain why i feel the way i do. First of all, i have a hunch we have killed civilians because if you read the newspapers or watch the tv, they tell us that we have. Yes, the media could be lying to us...,it could be a huge government cover up, but i feel that since they are the US media... the worse we could get is our side of the story... anyway, here is one example :

" Afghan officials have said 48 civilians died and 117 people were wounded north of Kandahar in the "friendly fire" accident on July 1, including members of a wedding celebration."

if you want to check out my source its: http://www.cnn.com/2002/WORLD/asiapcf/central/07/08/afghan.usa.reut/index.html
you see... i dont really believe in killing so much as you do... and even though you dont seem to place a high worth on the life of civilians in Afghanistan, i do. I think it would be just as horrible to see civilians in America killed in a "friendly fire" accident than in Afghanistan. I dont place any higher worth on human life simply because a person is American. I play a higher value personally on someone's life if they are close to me... but otherwise, a human being is a human being, thats just how i feel. Killing them is wrong.

Jeff, to respond to your second question, you and I both know that killing the terrorists that exist this moment in Afghanistan just wont solve the problem, possibly not even in the short run. Im not suggesting we ignore them by any means, but merely suggesting we try to understand them. I don?t see how that can hurt in any way. And Jeff, Your probably right? we probably did do more than enough work trying to search out the terrorists before they attacked. After all, we do spend billions on our defense budget per year. But we know how terrorists work? they don?t need to spend huge amounts of money to accomplish some of the petty attacks they decide to carry out. Some day we will realize (hopefully) that they spend one hundredth of what we do to get even bigger results. Some day, hopefully, we will realize that understanding why the put soo much into attacking us would be useful. Its always good to understand the other person?s point of vew.

Moving on? JEFF, WAKE UP MAN!!!! I know im probably boring you with this long entry, but I hope you can keep your mind of the bottle just a few more minutes buddy, thanks.

In response to your next question about my hunch that our government doesn?t care soo much about why 9/11 occurred, but how to kill terrorists, my answer is in people like you who say ?well hey, long as we kill all those terrorists, we?re all set.? George Bush, Donald Rumsfeld and co. give speech after speech about what is being done to kill terrorists and trap Osama Bin Ladin, but have you ever heard any of them say what the terrorists were trying to accomplish and what really caused them to attack. Your probably not gonna hear much because Bush and co. don?t want to give the side any credit for being anything more than cold blooded murders. But there is always a reason for a hate worth killing over, and this is something we should investigate and highlight so we can help prevent this from happening again.

Finally, you suggest that spending the money we do on the war would not be better spent on food for poor nations because it has been tried before and failed. Im sure our attempted help has been met with opposition at times, but I would like to know where your information comes from and to what extent it has failed, because I am also aware that it has succeeded in many instances. Next, you may not be aware, but our president has requested that we ?$396.1 billion for the military in fiscal year 2003 ($379.3 billion for the Defense Department and $16.8 billion for the nuclear weapons functions of the Department of Energy). This is $45.5 billion above current levels, an increase of 13 percent. It is also 15 percent above the Cold War average, to fund a force structure that is one-third smaller than it was a decade ago.
In all, the administration plans to spend $2.1 TRILLION on the military over the next five years. The budget plans, if approved by Congress, would lead the nation back into deficit spending in FY'03 - for the first time in four years.? (http://www.cdi.org/issues/budget/FY03Highlights-pr.cfm)
My theory is that if we cant solve the problem with the ridiculous amounts of money we spend now we might put and end to wasting the money on that. It really is better spent on more positive causes. In addition, the U.S. doesn?t give nearly as much of its budget proportionally as other less developed countries. Lets try and show some leadership and compassion from the greatest country to ever exist. Well Jeff? I hope I didn?t bore you with all of this writing, you?ve probably hit the bottle a while ago and missed most of what I had to say, but if you didn?t, kudos to you. Thanks.
