I realize that there are steam tunnels and such under the campus - that's something that's under most any campus, be it collegiate or corporate. My father has told me of exploring the steam tunnels around Haggin Hall and the then-under-construction Kirwan-Blanding Dorm Complex. I think he said they rode golf carts around down there.

The walkway between the postal facilities in the basement of Whitehall and the math library, etc. in the basement of Patterson Office Tower was a neat discovery when I was a freshman but it's hardly a secret or hard to get to.

I really really really really really wonder about the geological underground spaces under UK and, again, downtown Lexington that might possibly be accessible somehow. I read further about the construction of the WTYoung library and read that there is a cavern that runs under the length of campus from the KB dorm towers to Funkhouser and beyond.

Ah, yes, the PPD is a fun crew. I recall one janitor in particular, his name was Joe, and when he came in to the on-air room in the dawn hours when I was doing what passed for a radio show, he had to have smelled the scent of cheap marijuana in the air. I liked playing any song from the band "Janitor Joe" when he was in the offices, cleaning.

Other good campus smoke spot: the weeping tree in the botanical gardens between the student center and the classroom building, by the diagonal stepped walkway up the hill. One instance in particular was heart-warming - about five of us emerging from under the tree at "high" noon, struggling to walk into the throng of the crowd milling around between classes, silently going our own ways to deal with our classes while freshly zooted. This is not particularly unusual about Kentucky so I will stop here.
