Since my hubby and I are Lexington, KY natives - and UK employees - we know either first-hand or by reading Lexington's history that there were previously three (that we know of) water areas on University of Kentucky Campus. There was a huge quarry many many years ago at Upper and South Limestone where baptisms took place by a local church. Now there are numerous buildings, Taylor Education, a fire station, etc. on the site. Also, there was formerly a pond next to Alumni Gym at Euclid (Avenue of Champions) and South Limestone where there was boating available. The site where the WT Young Library now sets was the site of another pond in the past with housing going around it in a circle. The pond was drained many years ago - even before I was born. Since Kentucky is known to have more miles of waterways it's a fact that we have more than our share of water under and over the ground.
