in all my years i have seen, on several occasions, the Dark Knight face off against the Man of Steel.
Batman has won the battle EVERY TIME.
He's done it in Action Comics. He's done it in Detective Comics. He's done it in World's Finest. He's done it in The Brave and the Bold. Batman won in JLA. He won in the animated Batman/Superman movie. He certainly pulled through in Miller's Dark Knight Returns and Superman received the greatest beating of his carreer (at the hands of Batman) in DK2.
All of you fools out there who say Batman only has fancy weapons obviously only know the movie version of the Dark Knight. The comic book caped crusader only has one weapon, he only needs one, his mind.
I say if you don't know that, if you think Batman is a guy in a rubber suit who has ice-skates in his boots, you shouldn't be allowed to participate in this discussion.
Batman has the Kryptonite ring. Batman stays 10 steps ahead of his opponent. Batman has the most innovative and deductive mind in comics. He would know if Big Blue was coming. And believe me, ring or no ring, he would be ready, once again, to teach ol' Clark what it means to be a man.

NOT only did he beat superman, but sever OTHERS he wasn't "SUPPOSED" to beat, it still kills me to this day-- picturing a 50 year old "mortal" man beat the crap outta an invincible "god" like supes, I split my sides every time I think 'bout it.

That ring is the only way he can beat Superman. Without it, Superman would rip his head off. And yes, Crapman is only a regular person in a rubber suit. He has no powers at all. And he's not as smart as Superman. Superman pocesses the knowledge of countless species throughought the galaxy. The only reason batturd wins is because its the batman comic,duh. Superman could hit him before he even knows it, and knock his head off with the flick of his finger.Get real and back the true superhero.

K Strahm, you've got it exactly right.

Even if Batman DIDN'T have the Kryptonite ring, he'd still be able to beat Superman.
Doomsday did it, and he didn't have an ounce of Kryptonite.
Granted, Batman wouldn't be able to go fisticuffs too much, but BECAUSE OF HIS EXCESSIVE SMARTS, he would plan ahead and be able to circumvent Supes.
And Superman knows about species, but he doesn't have their knowledge.
He's just a reporter.
