In almost every case where Batman has "beaten" Superman it was in his own series of comics (with the exception of JLA). OF COURSE he's going to win, you don't go out and buy Batman comics to see him lose right? First let's address the case of him winning in JLA, that was probably to mix things up and boost sales of the comic and not have the physically stronger character win. Everybody wants to see the under dog come out on top, and let's face it folks, what would really happen if you match the two up and forget what some artist thought would sell comics? Next we'll address the point that Batman has a superior intellect. To my knowledge, I don't know if this has ever officially been addressed by the creators of either character but I can say this, I don't see either of them as smarter than the other. Both are very intelligent men. I would personally call this a matchup when it came to wits. Now lets take a look at the issue of either of them keeping thier morals during the fight. First off, neither of them kill for the fun of it. So if they wont resort to killing one another how do we really tell who wins? By either one conceding? This is where the outcome gets really fuzzy and it all comes down to who keeps thier morals or not. Who can hurt who the most? Batman knows clarks secret and could always threaten him with lois's life. On the other hand Batmans weakness is Alfred and Superman could do the same to Bruce. Who wins in this case? Whoever plays dirty. Now let's assume that they both completely forget thier morals and everything they stand for. Let the cards fall where they may, no tactic is taboo, nothing is important besides self preservation. Superman is clearly the winner here and I can tell you no matter how fast Batman can react it will never be as fast as Superman in terms of pure speed. And that's where the Battle will be won in this case. What does this all add up to? When we match up the powers of the two without any outside variables Superman will always be the clear winner. Last time I checked, the debate wasn't titled "Batman vs. Superman: With No Outside Variables". What are you expecting, an armwrestling match? All of Superman's powers are outside variables. He gets all of them from the sun which is, everybody now, an "outside variable". So if you want to be so realistic, think about that. Batman actually had to put effort into getting his skills. Superman just had to sit around the planet for a while. Without his power, whether it be to the "new rule" of "removing outside variables", or the simple fact that Batman would always bring some kryptonite with him; Batman wins, every time.
