Richard Cheese,
Burlesque Revival Association
et Pablo Brazil

- Burlesque Revival Association
Bawdy fun.
"So what is it one can expect at a Burlesque Revival Association
production? Well for one thing, despite the risqué atmosphere, there
is no nudity. 'We have high standards … no nipples, no crack,' Trista
jokes. 'We look for performers who have drive and great ideas. To
build this project we had to do a lot of research about how the shows
were conceived and constructed, about the history of variety
entertainment from minstrel shows to strip shows. And we still do
research every time we put on our performances. We are very serious
about strip-tease numbers being tongue-in-cheek, having narrative
themes, comic twists and subtext. This isn't the Glass Slipper, but
it is erotic entertainment. And to us that means smart and sexy.'"

- Richard Cheese.
World class.
"Tuxicity proves that Richard Cheese is the funniest musical act to
come along since Weird Al Yankovic. But then maybe he's really not
kidding with his second album of pop and punk morphed into lounge
standards. He certainly sounds sincere when he says 'thank you' to
the cocktail drinkers after a crisp rendition of Mystikal's 'Shake Ya
Ass' and he's more than serious enough when he breaks down and
confesses his love, er, lust for Britney Spears while singing 'Crazy'"
He's just fantastically talented at making howlers out of the most
dearly held anthems of rage and uncontrolled hormones from the last
few years. From Beck's 'Loser' to Linkin Park's 'One Step Closer,'
Cheese really does have a great voice and a flair for the Holiday Inn
twist on the musical arrangements. His band also has an excellent
keyboard player in Bobby Ricotta, who bossanovas with abandon all
through the CD. Richard had a lot more fun with the liner notes this
time out too.

- Pablo Brazil
From Rome to London to Madrid; from enchanted tropical islands
where monkeys and men live as one society to L.A.'s haunting
Chinatown; from sad "swingers-only" luaus to the banks of the
sparkling Seine, they look for love but rarely find it. Welcome to
the exciting and eclectic (sometimes sad) world of Pablo Brazil, a
heady mix of Serge Gainsbourg, Chick Corea, Antonio Carlos Jobim and
Frank Black. www.pablobrazil.com.

Hope to see everyone 9 p.m. Friday night.
