We were born on the River Moss, on a journey to Salamandastron. Our parents were the famed Fleetpaw river mice. Sapphire and me may look very small, but that runs in the Fleetpaws -- we're actually quite strong, and what we don't have in height we make up for in brains. We usually see only one parent, because the other is off to help the Salamandastron hares defend Mossflower and the Abbey. We can't run as fast as those great lollop-eared hares (no offense to any who are hares), but we compete with the shrews, otters, and squirrels in their own elements. Champion climbers, boaters, and swimmers of Redwall!
