Abal denies affiliations....the national 27/5/05
FOREIGN Affairs, Trade and Immigration Minister Sam Abal has brushed aside claims that certain LLG candidates were using his name to lure votes.
Mr Abal, who is also Wabag MP, said he has no affiliations with any of the local level government candidates, including councillors and LLG presidents.
He said he will work with whoever is voted into office by the people.
“I made a decision on Enga provincial government innovation day that I will not tolerate the support of any candidates.
“This would foster some kind of a political affiliation. I remain impartial and the claims made are not true. People are trying to stir up political differences at the provincial level,” Mr Abal said.
The four highlands provinces will go to the polls on June 14. Their LLG elections were deferred following last month’s Gera landslip.
