I don't condone corruption just as much as the next person. The performance of an MP would normally be judged on the basis of his/her efforts in promotoing the welfare of the electorate and country. I mentioned few names who in my considered view have produced or delivered in their own electorates and PNG. Does the name Peter Ipatas fit into this cadre of MPs when it comes to deliverying goods and services that are vital to the welfare of the citizens? Has Enga and by implication PNG benefitted via the polices and programs pursued by the Ipatas regime?

I am a relist and don't live in the cloud cucko land that was alluded to. Though I am domicilled in POM, I go home (Enga) thrice a year. There are glaring evidences of dilapidated social and economic infrastruture but by the same token, there are signs of positive developments as well. The gist of my piece here revolves around the benchmarks/yardsticks that one should employ when deciding to cast his/her vote. Corruption arguably happens to be an indelible/ubiquitous trait of most politicians, and therefore Ipatas would certainly be not immune to this syndrome. However, Ipatas and others should be measured by what they can be able to achieve and not other considerations that border on intruding into his or their private life (s).
