In reply to: Fr. Robert Laka 's message, "Re: Thumps up for the Sepik...how about Enga & the rest of PNG????????" on Thu, Aug 31 2006, 04:04:17pm

Fellow brother and sister Engans,

We have expressed what we wished would have happened in our Mother Land, Enga and PNG as a whole. We have many ideas, which we have shared, and it is a pity, not all our loved ones back at home in Enga share the same sentiments as we share over the net; the wealth of knowledge we have poured in, the shadows we have highlighed and the dreams we have shared. All these would be a waste, if they are not shared.

There has to be an exit in which, these ideas are to be disseminated to the majority. Thus, I for one am in favor of PPambai's idea for an awareness campaign. I have written some letters already to certain orgainizations in Enga to consider holding one, which I have not received any reply yet.

I am due for my research in Enga, for my PhD dissertation in May next year and I am thinking of pushing through with the idea. While doing my research, I may conduct series of campaign to share what it is like to elect a leader who would helped Enga have access to possibilites we have shared so far. I may be one, but I fear nothing. While standing up for justice and equality, I am even willing to lay down my life, if it is for Enga. "An Engan is worth dying for an Engan, if it is for a good course". Enga should and must not remain as she is, despite she being one of the riches province in PNG . I won't ask but I am only proposing this idea in favor of PPambai's, An awareness campaign would be a possibility.

Is anybody in favor of PPambai's suggestion? I for one am in. We don't have time.

Samting bilong sekelim tingting tasol.

Count me in as well, Fr. Robert. I like your idea and your statement: "An Engan is worth dying for an Engan if it is for a good cause". I believe this words of yours. With your position as you are, a clergyman, I believe you fear nothing, in which you have a genuine spirit of justice and equality, of peace and properity. I was changed becasue of your words and action, it is me, (brother of Ali Baba). You had no fear when you faced my brother to put down his weapon (which he did). Had you not stood up for an Engan, another life would have been lost. Although you were a Mai, other village leaders appreciated your effort. You are a son of Enga. It was a pity, you had to leave us soon when you were called for studies, but again it was for a good cause, for Enga, for PNG.

With that "tapumbai" I agree with you and PPambai to have an awareness campaign before the election. You know where to contact me when you come in May. We need to plan out as soon as possible. Any ideas how we shall begin?

JP,

By early next month, I will be moving to the Philippines for the final touch of my studies. I should be getting ready to be home by April next year.

We will team up with an existing group, like the Youth Group and other groups to host the Education Campaign before the election. I may call for some gathering usually after Sunday services and we could use the occasion to do a little bit of awareness campaign. What we need to do is to come up with facts and figures that are worth sharing.

I have a number of points spelled out to be disseminated to the people. I don't know about others.
