the shake sounds very nutrictious and a good BF choice. The important thing about the carbs is what you already know...that not all carbs are created equal. The non-starchy ones you need. The starchy ones you only need as fuel. I really avoid them for the most part since I know I have plenty of stored fuel. I will need to add more for maintenaince I assume. But the fiber...that we need always. Also, we need more fuel the first part of the day and not in the evening. You absolutely can eat the same number of calories throughout the day and not lose weight if you eat too much at night. My best scenario is not eating a thing after dinner and not eating too late. I do best when I have regular smaller meals, also, even in dividing meals in half and waiting a bit inbetween halves. Unfortunately this isn't always possible what with the demands of time, etc. I do what I can, when I can. I feel that same way about eating the starchy carbs as you discribe with the rice. My body is just telling me I don't need it. I will do a 1/2 cup of shredded wheat n bran cereal soaked fully in milk as a mid-day snack. But after the afternoon I basically try to avoid all starches. If you pile on the leafy greens, and real low-cal raw veggies, you will satisfy the crunch-urge thing. I also keep the fruits at the beginning half of the day, so they can rev me up and not be natural sugars just sitting there in my bod at night.
Obviously, I don't always succeed in keeping to all these strategies...but I feel best and lose most when I do. I think I am also very starchy-carb sensitive. All my binges are on starchy carbs; dry cereal, pretzels, and even popcorn (the supposedly good-for-u hotair kind) can trigger a binge and will even in moderation, keep the scale from moving downward. I am not sure if encorporating more of these foods earlier in the day will help me avoid the binge set-up or if I just need to steer clear of them completely. The jury is still out on that. Right now, I know I feel best when I seriously limit them and keep them in the first half of the day, opting for high-fiber, no salt, no sugar or white flour choices. There are a lot of foods I haven't eaten in a really really long time such as corn, white potatoes, and things like corn tortillas and corn chips (I know there are some good ones out there like the ones you found and chips made with no oil or salt and baked). It will be an interesting experiment when I finaly hit the maintainence phase to see how my bod reacts to these various foods. Right now I am just skipping them.
Things are really still extreemly stressful here. Sure do feel like running away sometimes!! wanna come? hehe.
love,
Dreemy
